Robbie Williams reveals heartbreaking text his actress daughter Teddy, 13, sent to him at 2am as he admits she’s ‘desperate’ to be famous and reveals fears over her ‘oversensitive’ nature

Robbie Williams has revealed the heartbreaking text message his actress daughter Teddy sent him at 2am, admitting she fears she will be ‘nothing’ if she doesn’t become a singer.

The singer, 51, who shares 13-year-old Teddy with wife Ayda Field, opened up about fatherhood during an appearance on Scott Mills’ BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show on Friday, admitting his daughter is ‘desperate’ for fame – but that her ‘oversensitive’ nature worries him.

Kicking off the interview, Scott asked Robbie about a clip showing Teddy joining in with vocal warm-ups before one of his shows.

He said: ‘That must be kind of special, because I feel they’re now at an age where they know who their dad is and to have that experience with your kids? Is it cool?’

Robbie replied: ‘Yeah, it is very, very cool. Ted in particular is so desperate for it.

‘Now, when I was growing up in Stoke-on Trent, I was also incredibly desperate for it, whatever it was, you know, watching Top of the Pops on Thursday and thinking, how the hell do I get in that box in the corner of this room and be one of those people?

‘But I’ve never seen it so acute as I do with Ted. She sent me a text the other day. And it goes, let me get this.

‘It says – this was Thursday, six minutes past two in the morning, “Dad, what if I’m not a singer? It’s my biggest fear not to be a singer.” Biggest capital letters. “What if I’m nothing?”

Reacting to the message, Scott said: ‘Oh, Teddy’ before Robbie jokingly added: ‘And I was like, “babe, you’re a nepo. You’ll be fine.”

Scott asked the star: ‘That’s so good. Does it worry you that she wants to be that whatever it is?’

Robbie replied: ‘The only thing that worries me about it is, she’s incredibly sensitive. I am painfully, painfully sensitive. In some quarters it would be deemed as being oversensitive. She is worse than me. And I’m worried about what words will do to her.

‘For me, it was either this or stacking shelves at ASDA – so this, every single day and for Ted, she’s got options.

‘I’m just worried about words, and mean people and – I’m not worried – because like I can steer her professionally so that’s okay, it’s just everything else that comes with it and also you know, besides all of that, it’s a wonderful, wonderful life and a wonderful, wonderful job and you get to be creative for a living and I’m very grateful and incredibly lucky.’

Robbie’s appearance on the show comes after he and his wife Ayda looked happier than ever as they posed with their daughter Teddy at the Tinsel Town premiere in London last year.

Teddy is following in her famous parents’ footsteps after she landed her first major film role in the Christmas movie Tinsel Town, where she plays the daughter of Rebel Wilson’s character, Jill.

The teenager stole the show on the red carpet as she stunned in a glamorous green dress which she teamed with a black furry jacket.

She was all smiles as she posed for selfies with fans lining the red carpet before beaming alongside co-stars Rebel and Kiefer Sutherland.

Proud parents Robbie and Ayda couldn’t contain their smiles as they posed with their oldest child on the red carpet ahead of watching her first movie role.

The couple are also parents of son Charlie, 10, and seven-year-old Coco, and son Beau, five, who were both born via surrogate.

Tinsel Town is a christmas comedy film directed by Chris Foggin.

Finding himself typecast and blacklisted, Bradley Mack (Kiefer Sutherland) resorts to doing theatre work in England only to discover it involves appearing in a small town panto of Cinderella.

Back in February, Teddy was spotted on set filming with Hollywood A-lister Rebel and British icon Danny Dyer in Wetherby, Yorkshire.

Teddy held hands with her co-star Rebel as they walked through the artificial snow alongside actor Kiefer.

A source told The Sun at the time: ‘Teddy was born to be a star – after all, her parents are both the ultimate performers.

‘Robbie and Ayda have been keen to keep her out of the spotlight for as long as possible though – obscuring her face on social media etc – so this is all very much being driven by Teddy who’s wanted to be on stage since she was old enough to talk!

‘It’s a small part but obviously is super-exciting, and everyone is really proud of her. She’s an absolutely lovely girl on and off screen, and has fitted in seamlessly into on-set life.’
