Jon Hamm shared a fun fact about Fargo season five, which premiered on FX on Tuesday.
The 52-year-old actor โ who plays a sheriff in the show โ caught the eye of viewers when he appeared shirtless with nipple rings while soaking in a hot tub in the trailer.
While speaking at a screening and panel for the series last week, he shared that he wore stunt nipples for the scene, according to Variety.ย
Shocking co-star Juno Templeย with the revelation, she asked, ‘A full fake nipple?’ just to be sure.
The former Mad Men star then confirmed, ‘I had to have some very blue latex put on my nipples, and then they cast a resoundingly lifelike pair of nipples, which they then pierced and placed over my own nipples, and we shot said nipples.’ย

He added, while speaking at Nya Studios, ‘The crew doesnโt get enough credit, but there was a dedicated nippleologist.’
‘We all live in “Tiger King” America,’ showrunner Noah Hawley, said coyly about the nipple jewelry during the panel.ย
Season five of the hit series features Temple in the role of Dorothy ‘Dot’ Lyon, who is a Minnesota housewife with a dark past.
North Dakota sheriff Roy Tillman, played by Hamm, uncovers her skeletons after finding her.
Season five focuses on Roy searching for Dot with the help of his feckless son Gator (Joe Keery) and shadowy drifter Ole Munch (Sam Spruell).
Dave Foley, Lamorne Morris, Jessica Pohly and Nick Gomez also star in the series.
Temple described her character as a ‘survivalist’ who ‘has got a past that sheโs kept back in the past.’
She added, ‘And as we see throughout this season, it begins to catch up with her. Itโs a past where a lot of people want things from her, and they donโt ask what she wants.ย And so, she will fight against it to the bitter end to protect the thing that is the most important to her, which is her family.’

Jennifer Jason Leigh, 61, plays Lorraine Lyon, Dot’s mother-in-law, who she goes up against in the show.
Lorraine is dubbed the ‘Queen of Debt’ as she builds her fortune from others’ bad luck.
Leigh said about the character, ‘Itโs so funny. I canโt believe what I got to say in this. I wish I had even a quarter of Lorraineโs brain. Sheโs so brilliant and she can assess people. Sheโs never intimidated. She owns every room she walks into. Sheโs very pleased with herself.’ And she called showrunner Noah’s script ‘delicious.’
‘This year I really did want to look at debt,’ Hawley said at the event, per Variety.
He added, ‘Something like two thirds of Americans carry a not insignificant amount of debt, but nobody ever talks about it. And thereโs shame to it, thereโs morality to it.ย
‘Thereโs also something very Coen-esque about this idea that if you have a student loan and it takes you 20 years to pay back, if you pay it back, youโre a good person.ย
‘And if you donโt pay it back, youโre a bad person, but youโre not going to know for 20 years. So, for those 20 years, youโre both a good person and a bad person. Thereโsย a duality to it that I find really interesting.’
The series also considers a different kind of debt. ‘Thereโs also the debts, the promises we make to each other,’ he Hawley added. ‘What does a wife owe to a husband who was abusive? What does a son owe to a mother who was domineering? What are these obligations between us? And I think we explored them pretty well.’

And about the time being set in 2019, Hawley ‘wanted to do a contemporary story and it was the latest I could go and not get into COVID, which I think is a different story entirely.’
Explaining further, he said, ‘And we were still in that last presidency. Once we meet Jonโs character, we see some frightening parallels.’
Hamm reflected about his sheriff role, ‘He works in law enforcement and has a very different view of what enforcing the law means and what the law means.ย
‘It all sort of runs through him and is very assured in his righteousness. And like a lot of people who are very assured in their righteousness, they sometimes are misguided.’
