The star was spotted last month at a screening of her new show Merv as she showed off a her much lighter locks.

As President of Lightworkers Media, the faith and family division of MGM, she and her husband Burnett, produced the miniseries The Bible, in which she played Mary, mother of Jesus.Â
The show was a massive success as it has been seen by 100 million people.
She told Real Clear Religion in 2013: ‘No one has ever done a series on the whole Bible – individual stories have been told, but not as a whole.Â
‘My husband and I wanted to be able to make a series that would glorify God, one that would tell God’s love story. We felt a calling in our hearts.
‘It’s a very ambitious and bold project to step into, and we did so prayerfully. It’s been very humbling and exhilarating to see the numbers climb as the show has been run and re-run. It’s exciting.’
She also shared with the website: ‘Either there’s no God, or there’s only God. For me, there’s only God. The Bible is our story of God’s love, so I don’t know why that would be a surprise. I love the Bible. My earliest memories in my Catholic household were of sitting on my Father’s knee and having him read Scripture to me.’Â

In collaboration with Burnett, Downey has produced feature films, including Ben-Hur (2016), Son of God, Little Boy, Woodlawn, Resurrection, Messiah, and Country Ever After.Â
They produced The Dovekeepers for CBS and A.D. The Bible Continues for NBC.Â
Downey was the executive producer of the documentary Faithkeepers, which focuses on the persecution of Christians in the Middle East, as well as Bump Along the Way and the short film Rough.
Downey produced the Amazon Prime feature film On a Wing and a Prayer.Â
Downey is a published author, with several books, including the best-seller Box of Butterflies.
Her most recent work, Be an Angel: Devotions to Inspire and Encourage Love and Light Along the Way, was released in 2023.Â
She was born in Northern Ireland, attended a Catholic girls school then went to The Drama Studio.
She told Oprah, ‘Growing up in Ireland, when my family received important news, good or bad, we would boil water and make tea. It was the first thing I did when my father died in 1984. This ritual allowed me a moment to take in the enormity of what had happened. Pausing between stimulus and response allows you to show up in your life.’

She also told Oprah: ‘Before I left home for drama school in England, my father took me outside one night and told me that wherever I was, the moon would shine on both of us. Months later, walking in London, I’d look at the moon and feel his love. Now I’ve shared the ritual with my own kids. When I travel, the moon reminds us that we’re never as far apart as it may seem.;
Next she moved to New York City where she worked on Broadway, then went to Hollywood where her TV career took off.Â
Downey is married to television producer Mark Burnett. He proposed in 2006 and they wend in 2007.
She has two step-sons, James Burnett and Cameron Burnett, and a daughter, Reilly Marie Downey Anspaugh (born in 1996) from her previous marriage to director David Anspaugh.Â
She was also previously married to actor Leland Orser.Â
