An Australian influencer who has been accused of jumping on short-lived trends has been slammed for following the latest craze in kitchenware.
Sophia Begg, 22, a TikTok star with over 1.4million followers, raised eyebrows on Monday after uploading a video of herself making an iced coffee using her own personal can-sealing device worth $2000.Â
In the video, the blonde pours coffee and iced water into a plastic cup, which she then places inside the commercial-grade canning machine sitting on her counter.Â
The machine then seals the glass shut with a metal can lid.Â
Her video has sparked chatter among critics on Reddit, many of whom have skewered Sophia for using an ‘unnecessary’ and ‘wasteful’ appliance instead of a simple glass.Â
‘I love the little juice can things but all I can think about is how wasteful it is? I assume once sealed it’s not reusable? Like, on her Insta she’s making an iced long black in it? Just have it in a glass,’ one user griped.Â

‘The only way I see it being ‘reusable’ is if she rinses them out and then reuses – but it loses the ‘can’ vibe about it. Regardless, is overconsumption at its finest,’ someone added.Â
‘Oh my god is she getting out of touch or is it just me?’ yet another commented.Â
And another user agreed: ‘Yeah I know they’re trending and I kind of understand it for like a business/cafe selling as takeaway, but using plastic bottles and sealing with the top at home to drink at home just feels like consumerism final boss’.
It comes after Sophia was named as the ‘biggest micro trend final boss’ by another influencer at Australian Fashion Week 2025.Â
The term ‘micro trend final boss’ refers to a person who regularly embraces short-lived fashion trends – including wearing fast fashion brands.Â
The saga began when media outlet Pedestrian approached Sydney stylist Jamie Azzopardi at the annual fashion event and asked them who they thought was Australia’s ‘biggest micro trend final boss’.Â
Jamie, who uses they/them pronouns, named Sophia in response.Â
When approached by Pedestrian about being branded the micro trend queen, Sophia took a dig at Jamie for wearing controversial fast fashion brand Shein to Fashion Week. Â

Jamie has since claimed they didn’t understand the meaning of ‘micro trend final boss’, and never meant to cause offense.Â
‘I misunderstood the question of micro … whatever it was,’ they said. ‘I didn’t understand the term,’ they told News.com.au.Â
‘I said Sopha Dophaa is a boss, I don’t really understand her fashion but from what she’s created, she can wear a loofah and still look flawless.’Â
Jamie also went on to take a stab at Sophia, saying: ‘I think by calling people out about being called out, you make yourself sound less than smart.’Â
