K-pop idol Kwon Mina has reportedly said in a series of now-deleted Instagram posts that she was rescued after attempting suicide on New Year’s Day.
The 32-year-old, who has tried to end her life multiple times before, shared an alarming post to social media titled, ‘Goodbye and I’m sorry’ on January 1.
Roughly two hours later, she uploaded another post explaining that she had attempted to end her life but had been found just in time, before completely deleting her Instagram account.
‘If it had been left just a little longer, I really could have kept my promise today. But suddenly I heard noises, and someone started shaking me violently,’ she wrote, according to AllKPop.
‘My consciousness kept fading in and out, and I kept screaming “please” in my head— then I was rescued again. I’ve become like the boy who cried wolf.’Â
She further furled concern by adding, ‘But I will keep my promise. Disappearing right in front of your eyes.’

Mina was a member of the chart-topping girl group AOA from 2012 until 2019
Mina previously attempted suicide in 2020, alleging at the time that it was due to long-term bullying she claims that she experienced in her former girl group AOA.
She was hospitalized a year later in 2021 after being found unconscious in her home following another attempt to end her life.
Prior to her attempt on January 1, the singer and actress shared on social media that she ‘wasn’t in a normal state of mind’ and that past bullying and an alleged sexual assault incident from 2007 had caused her mental anguish.
‘I did everything because I felt genuinely wronged. I hated feeling wronged so much that I gathered the courage to call things out, but in the end, I destroyed myself,’ she wrote.
‘I’ve been in trial for four years as a victim of sexual assault resulting in injury. While the assault itself was acknowledged, the injury was not proven. In the first trial, the perpetrator was found not guilty due to the statute of limitations,’ she continued.
Explaining the lack of physical evidence, Mina wrote, ‘I was afraid of retaliation, worried my mother would find out, had no money to go to the hospital, and instead had to hide.’Â
She also said that she still suffers from recurring nightmares and trauma from the alleged assault.Â

Mina first shot to fame in 2012 as a member of the chart-topping girl group AOA.Â
The group, who were known for their sexy and flirtatious image, earned multiple hit singles in South Korea and Japan, including Miniskirt, Heart Attack, and Like a Cat.
For a period of time, Mina was one of AOA’s most popular members and was able to launch a successful acting career outside of the group.
However, she left the group in 2019, and then a year later publicly accused member Shin Jimin of bullying her.
Jimin denied the allegations, calling them ‘fiction’, but the public backlash from the accusations led her to quit AOA and take a two-year hiatus from the entertainment industry.
Multiple South Korean stars have tragically lost their lives to suicide over the years.
Earlier this year, actress Kim Sae-ron, 24, was tragically found dead at her home in Seoul after taking her own life.
