The lovebirds have been enjoying a family vacation in Europe with their two children – Hudson, 2, and Noah, ten months – and Paris was the perfect place for Shannon to pop the question.

Kate announced the news with two romantic photos that showed her flaunting her diamond sparkler as she cuddled close to a beaming Shannon.

In one photo, taken in front of an illuminated Eiffel Tower, Kate was sporting an expression of joyous surprise as she proudly held her ring aloft.

The other image, shot in front of the Arc de Triomphe, showed the pair revelling in their love in the most romantic city on earth.

‘Well, what can I say? It doesn’t get any better. I love you.’

A third summed up the sentiment of many with an equally gushing: ‘What a way to finish the year!! Congratulations, super excited for you both.’

The happy couple, who already have two-year-old son Hudson, revealed that the singer gave birth to a baby boy in February.

Kate shared a touching post-birth photo in which she can be seen holding her newborn, who the couple have called Noah, while a beaming Shannon posed alongside.

She also posted a photo of her two-year-old boy Hudson holding his new baby brother, whose face Kate covered with a love heart emoji to protect the family’s privacy.

‘I look forward to introducing you all to our little legend very soon!’ she said in the post.

Kate also shared intimate details about her birthing experience with Woman’s Day in April.

‘I was expecting the worse, but I feel like I recovered from a caesar way quicker than I thought I would,’ she said.

‘It was really cool. I got to help pass him up onto my chest. But still, if I was to choose to have a third – which I have no intention of doing – I would probably choose a natural birth.

‘It was painful and hard and all the things a natural birth is, but there’s just something about delivering a baby that way, maybe because it was my first, that was really embedded in my memory in the most beautiful way.
