Coleen Rooney hits the beach in Barbados but it’s her eldest son Kai, 16, who steals the show as he races Wayne’s Man United pal

Coleen Rooney hit the beach with her family in Barbados for this New Year’s Eve as they swapped the cold weather for the Caribbean sun.

The WAG, 39, showed off her figure in a leopard print bikini and beige ruched cover up.

Adding a pair of shades to her beach look, for once it wasn’t Coleen who was the centre of attention as her eldest son Kai, 16, stole the show.

The footballer, who currently plays for Manchester United’s Under 18 squad, showed off his athleticism as he raced his dad Wayne’s former Manchester United teammate Jonny Evans.

Sprinting across the beach in their swim shorts the pair appeared to be giving it their all as they grimaced with their efforts.

Wayne and Coleen were joined by their other sons Klay, 11, Kit, eight, and Cass, six, as well as Coleen’s brother and parents Colette and Tony.

They were also joined by retired footballers and Wayne’s former teammates Jonny, Michael Carrick and Darren Gibson.

Kai was also seen chatting with friends as he styled his beach look with a pair of black shades and silver chain.

Wayne was seen enjoying himself with his pals as sipped a cocktail while keeping it casual in a white T-shirt, grey baseball cap and shades.

Kai’s recently scored his first goal for Manchester United on his comeback from injury after he was sidelines for months having been injured, on crutches, and with his right foot in a protective boot.

In September, he shared an image of his predicament on Instagram alongside a caption of ‘Life can’t get worse’.

Not long after, he shared a picture of himself in United training gear and wearing boots, and he accompanied it with two sand-glass emojis – indicating that he is nearing a return to full fitness.

It seemed that didn’t turn out, however, and he had to wait until mid-December for an eventual return to action.

He had already earned a surprise call-up to the club’s Under-19 squad earlier this season, aged 15, before his progress was halted.

And just weeks later, he bagged his first goal for the Under-18s with a left-footed volley rifled into the top corner against Middlesbrough.

Kai joined United’s academy in 2020 at the age of 11 and has steadily worked his way through the youth ranks.

Earlier this month Coleen looked radiant as she treated her family to a ‘magical’ festive day out at LaplandUK.

Sharing a series of heartwarming snaps from the seasonal day out, Coleen could be seen beaming alongside her loved ones as they posed against a variety of cosy backdrops inside a wooden cabin.

She was joined by her mum Colette, sisters-in-law Carley Smith and Amy Wilkinson, as well as their children.

Captioning the post, Coleen wrote: ‘Our favourite place this time of year… so magical and even better it’s now on our doorstep @laplanduk.

‘Thank you for an amazing day.’

It comes after it was reported that Coleen and husband Wayne spent tens of thousands of pounds on their Christmas lights at their £20,000,000 Cheshire mansion.

The former Manchester United player, 40, and the I’m A Celebrity star moved into the mansion three and a half years ago.

The sprawling home is located in the famous Golden Triangle of land in the area, which incorporates some of the region’s smartest postcodes and plays host to plenty of football players, TV icons and musicians.

And the vast property is now ready for Christmas with the pair seemingly enlisting the help of professional to adorn it with bright festive lighting.

Snaps of the home show Christmas lights lining the roof and porch of the mansion, as well as covering wreaths, trees and hedges.

The lights are said to be so bright they can be seen from aircrafts on approach to Manchester Airport.

The Rooneys’ house, named High Lake Manor, boasts a snooker room, a home cinema, an underground spa, wine cellar, a stable area with space for 14 horses, and a football pitch

Representatives for the Rooneys were approached for comment.
