Pamela Anderson Insults Lorde Over ‘Creepy’ Sex Tape Obsession

Lorde faced fierce backlash after she revealed that she watched Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee’s leaked sex tape in a Rolling Stone interview and then later referenced the controversial video in her new song.

The pop star, 28, revealed to Rolling Stone that she looked up the infamous video after undergoing a psychedelic therapy session. 

‘I found it to be so beautiful,’ Lorde admitted. ‘And maybe it’s f**ked up that I watched it, but I saw two people that were so in love with each other, and there was this purity.

‘They were jumping off this big boat.… They were like children. They were so free. And I just was like, “Whoa. Being this free comes with danger.”‘

Lorde seemingly referenced the video again in her song Current Affairs from her newly released album Virgin, when she sings: ‘All alone in my room / Watching the tape of their honeymoon / On the boat, it was pure and true / Then the film came out.’ 

On social media, fans were upset the Royals singer was continually praising the home movie, especially since Anderson has spoken about how damaging she found the leaked video. 

Now, an insider has exclusively revealed to Daily Mail how Anderson really feels about the references, explaining the video ‘changed her life forever and a lot of bad came from it that she doesn’t like remembering or thinking about.’

The ‘home videos’ had been stolen from a safe located in Anderson and Lee’s garage during their marriage, and put together to create the infamous sex tape

Anderson and Lee were married from 1995 to 1998 and share sons Brandon Thomas Lee, 29, and Dylan Jagger Lee, 27. Their privacy was invaded when a sex tape they made was stolen and distributed without their consent in the ’90s.

The insider explained Anderson, 57,  ‘hates when the sex tape creeps back into pop culture, whether it was the Pam and Tommy show, or whenever people start talking about it or when she has had to talk about it.’ 

The Canadian actress has not watched the 2022 Hulu show about the scandal, Pam & Tommy, which starred Lily James and Sebastian Stan, and was made and released without her permission.

Anderson’s career has evolved since her Baywatch days and she most recently received rave reviews when she took on a more serious role in The Last Showgirl. 

She’s also changed her personal image, going from blonde bombshell to a more pared-down look by famously ditching makeup on the red carpet and saying goodbye to Botox and fillers. 

‘She has been on a recent high in her career and has steered clear from her past and is looking to age gracefully, do more important work, more fun work and show off her talent,’ the insider disclosed. 

According to the source, Anderson would rather people focus on her current accomplishments and forget about ‘Baywatch and her sex tape past.” 

The tape was taken in 1995 by Rand Gauthier, an electrician who worked on the couple’s house. After Lee refused to pay him for the work, he stole a massive safe from their garage, which included the sex tape. The video was later obtained by Seth Warshavsky, who initially streamed the video online, before trying to set up a distribution agreement with Pamela and Tommy.

In February, Pam told Glamour, ‘I’ve tried Botox, I’ve tried filler, but I haven’t had anything like that for over three or four years’

The couple eventually signed the agreement to cut down on their stress over lawsuits. 

Sales of the tape reportedly generated hundreds of millions in dollars, but none of that money made its way back to Anderson and Lee. They were eventually awarded $740,000 each in a judgement against Warshavsky, but he reportedly never paid either of them.

‘She doesn’t know Lorde, and is not going to focus on Lorde’s thoughts and her lyrics, it is nothing that Pam wants to be a part of,’ the insider spilled. ‘She’s not going to endorse it.’

The source said that Anderson is upset because she knows she’s going to be asked about it while doing press for her upcoming movie Naked Gun, where she stars alongside Liam Neeson.

But in perhaps the ultimate insult to any A-lister who trades off their fame, our source said: ‘She’s not mad at Lorde, because she doesn’t know who she is, but she would rather not have this out there. 

‘It is just a headache to deal with, when she just wants to live her life,’ the insider continued.
