Angelina Jolie is ‘ready for life beyond LA’ as she takes big step toward finally leaving America

Angelina Jolie is preparing for a long-anticipated fresh start that no longer revolves around living in the United States or her messy divorce from Brad Pitt.

Just months after reports first surfaced that the Oscar winner, 50, was planning to sell her family home, an insider confirmed to People that the property is actively being shown to pre-qualified buyers following recent renovations.

‘She’s ready for a life that isn’t centered in Los Angeles,’ the source. ‘She’s looking forward to 2026 and the flexibility she’ll have then.’

Jolie shares six children with her ex-husband – Maddox, 24, Pax, 22, Zahara, 20, Shiloh, 19, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 17.

The former couple finalized their divorce settlement in December 2024, ending an eight-year legal battle.

According to sources, Jolie’s ability to relocate has long been tied to custody arrangements.

After her split from Pitt, Jolie purchased a historic Los Feliz estate once owned by famed Hollywood director Cecil B. DeMille.

She later explained the decision was made to keep her children close to their father.

‘I wanted it to be close to their dad, who is only five minutes away,’ she told Harper’s Bazaar in 2019. ‘As soon as they’re 18, I’ll be able to leave.’

The Daily Mail has reached out to Jolie’s representatives for comment, but has not heard back, at this time.

She previously told People that she ‘never wanted to live in L.A. full time,’ but remained there for the sake of her younger children.

Now, with twins Knox and Vivienne set to turn 18 on July 12, 2026, insiders say Jolie plans to relocate shortly thereafter.

She is reportedly considering splitting her time between Cambodia, France, and parts of Africa.

Cambodia, where she adopted her eldest son Maddox in 2002, is expected to be a primary base.

France and Africa also remain close to her heart: her twins were born in Nice, France, while she adopted daughter Zahara from Ethiopia and gave birth to Shiloh in Namibia.

‘They’re all very special places,’ a source told the outlet earlier this year. ‘She has dear friends in those areas who she considers confidantes and family.’

After being declared legally single, insiders noted that Jolie’s energy feels noticeably lighter after years of legal turmoil.

‘You can really feel a shift in Angelina recently,’ one source previously told Us Weekly in October. ‘She’s more at ease. She feels L.A. has served its purpose, and she’s ready for her next chapter.’

The timing of her potential move comes amid candid remarks Jolie has made about her identity as an American.

While speaking at the San Sebastián Film Festival, Jolie admitted she feels disconnected from the country she once recognized.

‘I love my country, but at this time, I don’t recognize my country,’ she said, according to Variety. ‘My worldview is equal, united, and international.’

Jolie has also previously criticized President Donald Trump’s policies, writing in a New York Times op-ed during his first administration: ‘We must never allow our values to become the collateral damage of a search for greater security.’
