Kate Cassidy Marks 8 Months Since Liam Payne’s Death, Shares Cherished Messages

Kate Cassidy shared some never-before-seen intimate texts with Liam Payne as she marked eight months since his tragic death.

Singer Liam died aged 31 on October 16, 2024, after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and was found to have alcohol and cocaine in his system.

Kate, who had been dating Liam for two years, has been documenting her grief journey on social media and marked eight months since his passing on Tuesday.

She shared a gallery of pictures of herself and Liam and told how she lives in a ‘constant state’ of missing her ‘best friend’, admitting she can’t put her pain into words.

One photograph showed Liam wearing a T-shirt with her name written on it and pictures of her face printed across it as she stood beside him smiling.

The influencer, 26, also shared a screenshot of texts Liam had sent her on August 1 gushing over his love for her, just two months before his tragic death.

The messages read: ‘Shall we go -play tennis for an hour? I literally couldn’t love you more if I tried and somehow I will tomorrow. I can’t wait to see you.’ (sic)

In a caption, Kate candidly opened up about her grief as she emotionally said her life doesn’t ‘make sense’ without Liam in it.

She penned: ‘Eight months ago today, I lost my best friend and someone I thought I had so much more time and life left to share with.

‘Liam was the kind of person you’d start missing the moment you walked out the door. Even when leaving the house for a few hours, I’d find myself rushing home to be with him again out of excitement.

‘Now facing the reality that I live in a constant state of missing you is something I still can’t fully wrap my head around.

‘Knowing I can’t just come home and see you, hear your voice, or feel your hug, it’s a type of pain I can’t fully put into words.

‘I can’t seem to tell if life is flying by without you or moving so slow none of it fully makes sense.

‘But I am trying to live my life as best I can for now and live it for you. I miss you more than words can say.

Ending on their angel number 444, she added: ‘One day, I’ll see you again, and I’ll have so much to tell you. So much to catch up on. I love you my angel❤️444.’

Angels have been symbolic for Kate since Liam’s passing, particularly the number 444, which she has since got tattooed on her hand.

Kate also has a beaded phone charm with the number ‘444’ and an ‘L’ laced through the thread in a tribute to Liam.

Angel numbers are repeating sequences of digits, normally in sets of three or four, and they are believed to hold spiritual guidance.

In numerology, 444 is a sign that the ‘angels are with you’ and are ‘there to guide you step by step’.

In the weeks after his death, she referenced the angel numbers as she shared that they had been planning to marry in the weeks leading up to his passing.

Just days earlier, Kate had shared snaps from her last holiday with the One Direction star – and the special meaning behind them.

She posted pictures of herself from a lavish trip to Greece as well as another shot where the star could be seen behind her in the mirror while she got ready.

She said Liam had done ‘everything to get me the perfect photo’ and gushed over how beautiful she looked, but she admitted she had only seen flaws.

However in tribute to the star, she shared all of the pictures ‘unedited, unfiltered’ to celebrate ‘the way you saw me’.

Sharing the carousel of snaps, Kate wrote: ‘These are some of the last photos Liam took of me. We were in Greece, on our last holiday together. I asked Liam to take a few photos of me because I really loved my dress.

‘As usual, with no hesitation, Liam did everything he could to get me the perfect photo. We walked around the entire resort trying to find the perfect background.

‘That’s just who he was. Always thinking of me in the most thoughtful ways. While he was taking them, he kept smiling and saying how beautiful I looked and how I was going love every picture.

‘When I looked back at the photos, all I saw were flaws. I hated how I looked. My pose, my hair, my face- everything. I picked myself apart, and told him I’d try editing them, maybe fix them enough to find one I liked.

‘He just looked at me and said, “I wish you saw how beautiful you are through my eyes”.’

She added: ‘And I didn’t listen. I let my insecurities silence the way he saw me that night. So today, I’m posting them.

‘For you, Liam. Just as they are. Unfiltered, unedited. Just me. The way you saw me. I miss you. I love you. Always.’

It was recently revealed that Liam had died without leaving a will – meaning UK intestacy laws will determine where his money goes.

His ex Cheryl Tweedy, 41, was appointed to take control of his estate alongside music industry lawyer Richard Bray under the laws.

Court papers confirmed Cheryl is now responsible for Liam’s property, money and possessions – a huge task the star is said to be quietly managing behind the scenes.

Liam and Cheryl were in a relationship for two years and share an eight-year-old son, Bear, who is expected to inherit his dad’s fortune via a trust.

It’s believed Kate will not receive any money from the estate due to inheritance rules that prioritise children and spouses.

In January, Liam’s cause of death was officially ruled as ‘polytrauma’ – a term used to describe multiple traumatic injuries sustained by the body.

He had a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of ‘up to 2.7 grams per liter in his blood’, according to the National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office No. 14.

Liam, who had been dating Kate, 25, for two years when he died in October, had been with her in Argentina until two days before he fell 45ft to his death from a hotel balcony at the age of 31

This is more than three times the legal driving limit in England and Wales, which is 0.08, meaning he would have been severely impaired in the moments before his fatal fall.

A BAC of 2.7 grams per liter (0.27%) is extremely high, with medical experts warning that such levels can lead to confusion, disorientation, and dizziness.

According to Alcohol.org, a BAC above 0.3% can result in alcohol poisoning, and anything above 0.4% could be fatal.

In addition to alcohol, the toxicology report found traces of several substances in Payne’s system, including ‘cocaine metabolites, methylecgonine, benzoylecgomine, cocaethylene, and the antidepressant sertraline,’ which is often prescribed for anxiety and depression.

Initially, five people were charged over Liam’s death, after he fell from a third-floor balcony of the Casa Sur Hotel.

The hotel’s manager, a receptionist and a friend of Liam’s were charged with manslaughter, Argentina’s National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office previously said in a statement.

However, Argentine authorities later dropped charges against three of them – Liam’s friend, Rogelio Nores, and two employees at the hotel where he died, manager, Gilda Martín, and the chief receptionist, Esteban Grassi.

All three had previously faced charges of negligence.

However, Argentinian public prosecutors confirmed they are considering appealing the decision to drop the manslaughter charges.
