Mark Wahlberg shares spotlight with one of our four-legged friends in his new adventure film Arthur The King.
The first trailer for the movie, which also stars Simu Liu, Juliet Rylance, Nathalie Emmanuel, Ali Suliman, Paul Guilfoyle, Rob Collins and Michael Landes dropped on Wednesday, November 15.
Directed by Simon Cellan Jones from a screenplay by Michael Brandt, the story is based on the 2016 non-fiction book Arthur: The Dog Who Crossed The Jungle to Find A Home by Mikael Lindnord.
In the film, Wahlberg plays Lindnord, the captain of a Swedish adventure racing team who befriends a wounded stray dog named Arthur.
From there, his team’s focus takes an interesting turn, with the help of their four-legged team member, that all plays out over a grueling 10-day, 435-mile race through the Amazon rainforest.

The trailer highlights the risks and determination involved in the race, as well as the bond that forms between the elite adventure racer and the dog, along with their shared endurance and resilience.
The heartwarming story depicts the athlete’s last chance at glory in the Adventure Racing World Championship, an endurance racing season where adventure racing teams compete in a range of disciplines including navigation, trekking, mountain biking, paddling and climbing, in the Dominican Republic.
During the backbreaking race of endurance, an unexpected and ultimately unbreakable bond is forged between the pro adventure racer and his new friend, a scrappy street dog dubbed Arthur.
Based on an incredible true story, Arthur The King follows Lindnord, who’s desperate for one last chance to win, as he convinces a sponsor to back him and his team of athletes (Liu, Emmanuel, and Suliman) for the race.
‘As the team is pushed to their outer limits of endurance in the race, Arthur redefines what victory, loyalty and friendship truly mean,’ according to the movie’s official synopsis.
British adventurer and television presenter Bear Grylls, 49, is also slated to appear as himself in the film.

To mark the release of the film’s first trailer, the real-life Mikael Lindnord took to Instagram and gushed over Wahlberg’s performance.
‘Of course, it’s a great honor to be portrayed by Mark Wahlberg, in my opinion one of our time’s best actors,’ the now retired athlete, 47, wrote alongside a promotional poster of the film.
‘But what struck me the most was his work ethic, professionalism and ability to relate to Arthur’s story and his way to interpret the adventurer. Some of the scenes on set was very, very strong and so close to real life, it felt like I relived the moments with Arthur again,’ Mikael Lindnord added, along with the links ‘@arthurthekingmovie @lionsgate @tooleyentertainment.’

Wahlberg also stars in The Family Plan, which was also directed by Simon Cellan Jones, that’s set to be released on December 15.
The action comedy film also stars Michelle Monaghan, Maggie Q, Saïd Taghmaoui, Zoe Colletti, Van Crosby, Ciarán Hinds, Miles Doleac and Joyner Lucas.
The Hollywood leading man also stars in the action thriller film The Union with Halle Berry, J. K. Simmons, Jackie Earle Haley, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Jessica De Gouw and Alice Lee, as well as the thriller film Flight Risk, which is being directed by Mel Gibson.
