Christmas will not be a joyous occasion for everyone this year, with some mourning the loss of loved ones and other spending it alone.
Richard Branson’s family put on a brave face as they celebrated their first festive season since the death of the mogul’s beloved wife Joan aged 80 last month.
The couple’s son Sam, 40, took to Instagram with a jovial snap of his two children’s Elves on the Shelf after they filled the toilet with cereal, he captioned the post: ‘Merry Christmas everyone’.
Richard also shares daughter Holly, 43, with his late wife, to whom he was married for 36, years.
Meanwhile Shane MacGown’s widow Victoria Mary Clarke declared ‘a big piece of her heart was in heaven’ following the singer’s death in November 2023 aged 65.
She shared a beaming photo of her late husband as she marked not only Christmas but what would also have been his 67th birthday: ‘Happy birthday to the love of my life. Thank you a million times for everything and I will love you forever’.

While shopping for one, he told followers: ‘So it looks like I am spending Christmas on my own, I woke up ill and I am too unwell to go to my mum’s for Christmas dinner,’
‘My mum said: “James, you better not come over and give me your cold” so I am on my own guys, so wish me luck’.
Fans rushed to the comments to not only send their best wishes but also to throw open their doors to James.

It comes after he told Daily Mail of his Christmas plans while still navigating his devastating grief.
‘Well, since my mom passed a year ago, I cannot do Christmas in the United Kingdom. So my mom passed last May and we done me the Mrs and the kids. We’ve done Christmas abroad and we’re doing the same thing again this year because it is a bit hard when I identify Christmas with my mother’.
‘The last year’s been a different time for years. I didn’t relate into my mum that you know, relates grandkids or anything like that. Yeah, I’m out of here too much. Too much good sad memories’.
He went on: ‘So New Year’s, we spend it with my partner’s family in the Midlands. We we always do that because isn’t it is it, is it, I call it a life for a life. If she’s coming with me there, I gotta go and do what I gotta do for her indoors’.
‘So we usually do it, but always a good crack up north. People are a lot more relaxed the, the, the pubs are a lot more friendlier. So it’s a good’.
