IDRIS Elba sent fans wild after he teased he’s taking over as 007.
The British actor and Hollywood star posted a playful reel on TikTok as he posed with James Bond wax figures at Madame Tussauds.
As the iconic Bond theme played over the top and the camera panned along the line of 007s, the shot finally stopped to show Idris, 53, standing at the end.
Viewers of the video rushed to the comments section to share their excitement, feeling Idris would be a prime pick for replacing Daniel Craig.
“You would be an AMAZING Bond,” said one user.
A second exclaimed in all caps: “Do not get me excited for this.”
A third even shared how it felt like “Christmas has come early” if the news were true.
Though sadly the video was just lighthearted fun as the star captioned the clip “wifey made me do it”.
Fans were excited to potentially see the first black James Bond grace the big screen.
And Idris himself has only recently announced his plans to retire from acting.
Many actors have been in the running for the role of the next James Bond including Aaron Taylor Johnson, Josh O’Connor, and Regé-Jean Page.
But, it’s Saltburn star Jacob Elordi, Spider-Man’s Tom Holland and Babygirl actor Harris Dickinson who are at the top of the wish list.
Unknown British actor Scott Rose-Marsh has also emerged as a serious contender in the race to become the next James Bond.
The latest report from Deadline, who spoke to Denis Villeneuve who will be directing the next film, shared how Denis is looking to cast a “fresh face”.
This “fresh face” will have some huge shoes to fill, continuing a beloved role first embarked on by the late Sean Connery.
Sean passed the baton over to George Lazenby who became the second bond, as well as the youngest actor to ever perform the part.
The late Roger Moore became the third bond, and one of the most prominent one’s in history.
Spending 12 entire years working on the famous franchise across seven films, it was hard for fans to see him go.
Though Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, and most recently Daniel Craig have done a superb job continuing the legacy.
