ROB Reiner’s drug addict son was last night branded “violent” by neighbours of the Hollywood filmmaker.
Troubled Nick – who has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder after Rob and wife Michele were found dead – was known to pals of the family for his volatile outbursts.
Speaking from outside the director’s home in Los Angeles, one neighbour said: “This is not the first time he’s been violent.
“I know of another incident a few years back but I won’t say more than that.
“I just never thought it would ever get to this point.
“Rob was always heartbroken that Nick couldn’t beat his addiction.”
Another neighbour added: “I know Rob was at times scared for Nick and his mental state.”
It comes as…
- A timeline shows the horrific details of the double murder.
- Nick Reiner could face the death penalty if convicted of the murders.
- Dramatic footage shows the moment he was arrested by armed cops.
- Nick bizarrely quizzed celebs at Conan O’Brien’s star-studded bash before being booted out.

Nick – who is facing the death penalty – admitted in 2018 that he once trashed his parents’ home in a meth-fueled rage.
He told a podcast: “I started punching out some things in my guesthouse.
Everything got wrecked. I literally punched the TV.”
Emergency services were called to the Reiners’ six-bedroom estate in the plush suburb of Brentwood on Sunday afternoon.
It comes after it emerged that sister Romy, 28, found Stand By Me director Rob, 78, dead when the alarm was raised by a masseuse who was unable to gain access to the house.
After checking on her parents and seeing her dad’s body, she is then said to have fled the home leaving her roommate to call 911.
Paramedics later told her that mum Michele, 68, had also been killed.
It’s claimed that Rob and Michele had their throats slit while they were sleeping in bed.
Nick has hired a top lawyer who represented disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein.
Dramatic footage released earlier today captured the moment Nick was apprehended by armed LAPD officers.
The 32-year-old was seen casually buying a Gatorade at a nearby petrol station before cops swarmed him 15 miles from the scene of the crime.
He was then forced to the ground and cuffed while lying on the pavement, according to photos shared by the LAPD’s Gang and Narcotics Unit.
Investigators raided Nick’s motel room that he had been staying in and found a shower “full of blood,” blood smeared all over the bed, and the windows blacked out with the bedsheets, according to TMZ sources.
Nick is reportedly being held on suicide watch at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles.
He was initially being held on $4 million bail, but that has since been revoked, according to Los Angeles police.
The frantic search for his whereabouts began after sister Romy alerted cops that he “should be a suspect” because he is “dangerous” after making the grim discovery.
More alarming details then came to light after it was reported that Nick and his parents had last been seen locked in a blazing row at Conan O’Brien’s A-list Xmas bash the night before the murders.
The couple asked if they could bring their son to the star-studded event to “keep an eye on him”.
The trio’s explosive argument is believed to have centred on Nick’s refusal to return to rehab, according to the New York Post.
A lifelong friend of the family also told the outlet that “Rob had been telling people that they’re scared for Nick and scared that his mental state was deteriorating.”
The screenwriter was said to have been exhibiting “antisocial behaviour” while at the party, including eerily staring at other guests.
At one point, Nick apparently stormed off in a huff after being snubbed by SNL star Bill Hader.
He was later kicked out of the party after reportedly hounding the A-lister guest with a string of weird questions like “What’s your name? What’s your last name? Are you famous?”.
CCTV footage showed him strolling near his parents’ home later that night, just hours before they were murdered.
Yesterday, it was revealed that the troubled writer faces a possible death sentence after being charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
Nathan Hochman, the district attorney of Los Angeles, unveiled the charges and said Nick would be charged with special circumstances, which can add time to any sentence.
“Charges are not evidence,” the district attorney said.
“Evidence is something we will be presenting in a court of law to meet the standard of proof we meet at every criminal case, which is beyond a reasonable doubt.”
Nick faces a maximum sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole, if convicted.
Hochman said his office will consider the death penalty in Nick’s case.
“Prosecuting these cases involving family members are some of the most challenging and heart-wrenching cases that this office faces because of the intimate and often brutal nature of the crimes involved,” the district attorney added.
