GAIL Porter has revealed the heartbreaking reason why she won’t see her daughter at Christmas.
The 54-year-old Scottish TV star sparked concern over festive loneliness last week when she said she would be spending Christmas Day on her own.
Gail’s daughter Honey, 22, never spends Christmas Day with her, and 2025 will be no different.
Honey spends Christmas Day with her dad and her dad’s side of the family, which is big.
Speaking to MailOnline, Gail said: “Her dad Dan has a big family.
“His wife has a big family.
“They all – grandparents, everyone – want to see Honey on Christmas Day and that’s how it should be.”
Speaking about her relationship with Honey elsewhere in the interview, she said: “She [Honey] thinks I’m ditzy. She knows I get stressed about things, in a way she doesn’t.
“She keeps an eye on me. We’re like Ab Fab. She’s the sensible kid, I’m Patsy and Edina.”
Gail’s daughter, Honey Hipgrave, was born in 2002, to Gail and her former husband, Toploader guitarist Dan Hipgrave.
In her recent chat with the Mail, Gail also opened up about her “lonely Christmas” and admitted she isn’t complaining about being alone on the big day.
“That’s entirely my choice,” she confessed.
She explained how she will spend Christmas Day with her cat, Ziggy, get into her Elf pyjamas and watch films.
Touching on the food she will eat, she said: “On Christmas Day, I might do a vegetable curry.”
Despite sparking concern over her loneliness, Gail said she will be “one hundred per cent happy” on Christmas Day.
“Lonely? Oh God, no.
“I mean I do get lonely, like anyone does, but it’s more likely to be when I’m on the Tube, surrounded by people, and I make eye contact with someone and they don’t smile. That’s lonely
“But I don’t feel that when I’m at home. I’m at a point in my life where I like my own company. Please don’t feel sorry for me, she pleaded.
This comes after she sparked concern with a cryptic post she shared on social media,
Taking to her Instagram page last week, Gail said: “And… my friend asked what i was doing for Christmas.
“I said nothing planned… she suggested I do charity work.
“Has she any idea what I dedicate half my life to? [sad emoji] Just a hug is all i really need!”
Her followers rallied to support her, with one commenting on the first post: “So sad for you Gail you just head home and put a cd on.”
Another said: “It sounds like you’re being taken for granted, Gail. You need to take care of yourself too.”
A third posted: “That’s terrible!”
