‘After an unexpected reunion with his long-lost father — scruffy street cat Vic (Jackson) – Garfield and his canine friend Odie are forced from their perfectly pampered life into joining Vic in a hilarious, high-stakes heist,’ the synopsis continued.

There were two previous animated Garfield films with Bill Murray voicing the cat in 2004’s Garfield: The Movie and its sequel Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties in 2006.
The trailer begins with Garfield as a kitten observing a busy restaurant from across the street. Jon Arbuckle sits at a table by the window alone eating a pizza when he notices Garfield outside and opens the window to let him in.
He offers the cat a piece of pepperoni and one thing leads to another and Garfield inhales the whole pizza and then everyone else’s in the restaurant too.
Garfield and Jon go home where he is introduced into a life of pampering and as much lasagna as he can eat.
In one cute scene Jon, Garfield and Odie are sitting down for a lasagna dinner and Jon is grating parmesan over the fat cat’s dish. He asks him to say when.
Garfield responds ‘Never Jon. Cover me in cheese.’
Before he dives into his pan of lasagna, Pratt’s Garfield looks into the camera and offers a warning to the audience.
‘I apologize in advance. The eating you’re about to see will not be pretty. And if you have young children, this would be a good time for them to leave the room.’
