Shakira divides fans as she seemingly IGNORES 2025 Met Gala theme with enormous pink gown on the red carpet

Shakira caused a stir among fans when she seemed to completely disregard the theme of the 2025 Met Gala as she walked the red carpet in New York City.

The 48-year-old Colombian singer–songwriter arrived in an eye-catching bubble gum–pink gown for the fundraising celebration on Monday.

But the theme of this year’s gala is ‘Tailored for You,’ which is inspired by the Spring 2025 exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.

Although Shakira’s unmissable ensemble added some much needed color to a red carpet that fans compared to a ‘funeral’ due to a preponderance of reserved black and dark-gray outfits, users on social media couldn’t help but point out that her Prabal Gurung gown didn’t bear any obvious connection to this year’s theme.

The hitmaker certainly made a show-stopping entrance, as her dress featured a ridiculously long train that trailed down the steps behind her and forced other attendees to wait for her to ascend before making their way up the Met’s iconic stairs.

Shakira’s train was made of a rumpled but lustrous fabric that drew even more attention to it, but the body of her dress was constructed with a more muted fabric with a matte finish.

However, she kept the attention on herself with slender S-shaped cutouts of sheer fabric that showcased her impressive, age-defying figure.

The slender dress hugged her hourglass figure, and it featured a plunging neckline that emphasized her cleavage.

Her trained was culminating in tiered rolls that gave her an intriguing silhouette, and she added sheer black dotted gloves with pink cuffs for an edgy touch.

Shakira (full name: Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll) wore her standard caramel-colored locks in voluminous waves that cascaded down her shoulders.

She kept her jewelry relatively modest, except for a thick diamond-encrusted necklace decorated with a large red tear drop–shaped gemstone.

On Instagram, one commenter simply labeled Shakira’s outfit ‘ridiculous.’

Another person wrote that Shakira ‘missed the assignment,’ while one fan joked that outfit was ‘giving ✨Glinda✨,’ referencing the pink-attired Wizard Of Oz character.
