Big Brother Australia Host Mel Tracina ‘Exhausted’ by Tough Work Conditions

Mel Tracina has had a baptism by fire on the Channel 10 reboot of Big Brother Australia.

According to a report, the harsh Queensland weather has put a damper on her new hosting role.

‘Mel has weathered Queensland’s wildest storms this season, literally,’ a production source told New Idea.

‘She’s been drenched, blown sideways, and pushed to keep the energy high even when the conditions were bordering on unsafe.’

The insider added that while Mel maintained professionalism rain or shine, everyone in production could tell that she was ‘exhausted’.

Viewers of the Channel 10 reboot have seen Mel and live audiences soaked by wild weather and clinging to umbrellas during broadcasts.

The new host is said to have struggled behind the scenes when it came to the hit reality series, primarily due to the harsh weather and Ten’s low budget

This isn’t the first time Mel’s harsh working conditions have been spotlighted.

She addressed the show’s turbulent start in November, confirming that Channel Ten’s budget cuts impacted production, while poking fun at the chaos that unfolded during the disastrous live launch.

In an episode aired last month, the bubbly TV and radio presenter appeared to acknowledge the scaled-back setup and the infamous weather debacle that forced filming to be abandoned midway through.

‘We thought we could do the show in sunny Queensland and save on costs during the cost-of-living crisis. But ironically, we ended up spending $50,000 on ponchos,’ Mel joked during the broadcast, drawing laughter from the audience.

Melissa, donning a clear raincoat on stage, soldiered on through the show while being whipped by rain.

She also hid underneath an umbrella while being lashed by a storm during the premiere.

It comes after Daily Mail exclusively revealed that chaos erupted due to a lack of proper roofing at the outdoor set, with insiders claiming producers Endemol Shine opted against building one to cut costs.

‘They were trying to save money wherever they could,’ one insider told Daily Mail.

‘It’s ironic because that decision ended up costing them the entire night’s shoot.’

Another source added: ‘Everyone had been working around the clock to pull this launch off, and then the weather just killed it.

‘People were soaked, equipment was getting wet, and the energy totally disappeared.’

Staff reportedly made urgent attempts to keep spectators in their seats, but most fled as lightning strikes moved closer to the park.

‘They had to call it off halfway through because the storm got too dangerous,’ one crew insider told Daily Mail.

‘There was no proper roofing over the stage, and with that much lightning around, it just wasn’t worth the risk.’
