Iconic 90s pop star Chesney Hawes has finally addressed rumours linking him to a sensational appearance on Celebrity Big Brother.
A TV source previously told The Sun that bosses hope The One And Only hitmaker will be ‘loose-lipped about celebrity encounters’ as they suggested he would be entering the house.
But the singer remained coy over speculation that he will feature in the final line-up, during a discussion with Chris Moyles on his Radio X show on Thursday.
He told the DJ, ‘Well, we’ll just have to wait and see, won’t we?’, when asked about the prospect of featuring on the ITV show.
Yet Chesney was heavily grilled by Chris about his potential appearance on the reality programme, with the musician doing his best to quash any speculation regarding his next career step.
Asked by the host about ‘rumours’, the star said: ‘I don’t know what you’re talking about. I’ve no idea. I’m going to hide behind this microphone.’

After Chris told Chesney he had read the news in the papers, the singer replied: ‘Do you believe everything you read in the tabloids?’
When quizzed on other potential arrivals in the house, he remained cagey and added: ‘I haven’t seen anything, Chris.’
Trying to get a read out of Chesney, Chris revealed that a certain Hollywood actor would be appearing on Celebrity Big Brother, delivering the bombshell that he would be ‘sleeping in the same bedroom as Mickey Rourke’.
Remaining cool, his guest said: ‘Well, that would be crazy if that was happening.’
The singer topped the charts for five weeks in 1991 with his hit The One And Only, before making a string of acting and TV appearances.
His rumoured arrival on CBB has been described by the source as ‘perfect timing’, as he’s set to release a comeback album in April.
‘Chesney Hawkes is one of those rare British celebrities who crosses generational divides,’ they said.
‘Everyone knows The One and Only even if the youngsters might not recognise his name.
‘He’s also had decades in showbiz so CBB bosses hope he’ll be loose-lipped about celebrity encounters over the years, just like Louis Walsh last year.’

It comes after the singer admitted that he turned down the chance to collaborate with Ed Sheeran earlier in his career.
He was discussing producer and pal Jake Gosling, who has worked with huge names such as Sam Smith and Harry Styles and is teaming up with Chesney for his new album.
The singer told The Sun: ‘I’d do sessions for him and we’d be trying to get a song for someone like Kylie Minogue.
‘He told me about this kid, Ed Sheeran, who was sleeping on his couch. Jake said, “Come and do a session.” I said: “Ed who? I’m working with A1 now,” like I was Mr big b*****ks.’
When it came to creating new album Living Arrows, he joked: ‘Jake said, “I can fit you in between Harry and Sam next week.”‘
