Just weeks before his death, Cullen had shared a deeply personal and heartbreaking post marking one year of marriage, detailing Jamie’s sudden illness and the brutal cancer battle that followed.

‘Last weekend, marked one year of our marriage. Nothing could have prepared us for the journey that was ahead,’ she wrote beneath a wedding photo.

She recalled: ‘On day 3 of our wedding, Jamie became seriously unwell. What was meant to be a minimoon in Rome turned into ten days in hospital. We returned home where Jamie had some scans and conversations about next steps.’

‘Just two weeks before Christmas, Jamie underwent major surgery where doctors discovered a cancerous tumor. Our world shattered in an instant, but we stayed strong. Jamie bravely faced 10 rounds of chemotherapy.’

Cullen explained that although there were ‘ups and downs along the way,’ nothing could have prepared them for the terrifying turn that followed his 10th round.

‘He was rushed into hospital by ambulance, where he developed pneumonia that turned sepsis, just hours after his chemotherapy. It was scary and really not good,’ she wrote.

‘Not long after, he was rushed again to hospital with unbearable pain. We were given the devastating news the cancer had returned.’

‘My world feels broken, my blood still runs cold,’ she added, ‘but I know this — my husband is a fighter. We will not give up.’

In the caption, the influencer opened up about the emotional toll of watching her husband battle cancer so soon into their marriage.

‘I don’t think I’ll ever be able to articulate Jamie’s strength throughout this entire journey,’ she said. ‘He never ceases to amaze me with his incredible positive outlook and mindset, even in the darkest moments.’

‘It’s been unimaginably tough seeing the person you love suffer and to feel so helpless,’ she continued. ‘I get these waves of guilt daily because all I want to do is just swap places or take it away. But I can’t.’

She added: ‘My husband is my inspiration, my hero and I love so much being his wife. In sickness and in health I know and pray that positive things are coming. They have to be, you deeply deserve it. Thanks for the support and patience. It’s been the most difficult time as newlyweds. We will not give up.’

The couple first met in 2017 at Bingo Loco, a local bingo hall. In 2021, the pair moved in together and one year later Gill proposed.

‘Life has been interesting enough. We’ve had some stuff going on at home. I know we will share in time, but at the moment, it’s not my story alone to share,’ she told VIP Magazine in August 2025. ‘My husband has just been having some struggles with his health. We’re just taking it day by day. I’m trying to be busy but also spend time at home with Jamie.’
