Louis Tomlinson has admitted he ‘hated’ performing One Direction hit What Makes You Beautiful and can’t think of a single time he enjoyed singing it.
The song was the debut single by Louis and his One Direction bandmates Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan and Zayn Malik back in 2011, after finding fame on The X Factor.
However 13 years later, Louis has admitted he can’t stand the debut track which went to number one and gave them their first glimpse of stardom.
Speaking to Captial FM, ahead of performing the Jingle Bell Ball next month, the singer revealed singing the track has always ‘felt like a challenge’.
A fan asked, “Louis, I love you and all your songs, obviously. But I need to know, what’s the one song you hate/hated performing?”
He replied: ‘The thing is with the irony of this game, like I am an open book. I will just give you every answer!

‘So, maybe some people wouldn’t answer this, but I’m not sure there’s a single time I performed One Direction’s ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ and enjoyed it.
‘That was felt like a bit of a challenge. So, yeah.’
It comes after Louis donated a huge four-figure sum to pay for life-saving surgery for a former One Direction bodyguard.
Preston Mahon guarded Louis, Niall, Liam, Harry and Zayn during the height of their fame.
The bodyguard set up a GoFundMe to help to raise money to pay for a surgery to clear blocked arteries in both of his legs.
And one of the names to make a public donation on the page was Louis, who contributed a whopping £4,000 to Preston’s cause.
Preston – who guarded the whole of One Direction – told The Sun: ‘I’m so appreciative, it means the world to me.’
The grandfather suffered a clogged artery in his left thigh and needed a procedure to clear it, called angioplasty, at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham – which he was told he could receive once every two years.

However post Covid the rules changed and in his last visit to see a medic, Preston was told: ‘Both arteries are blocked in both legs and there’s nothing I can do.
‘The next time I see you will be for bypass and amputation.’
Preston then chose to fly out to Spain to pay for a private operation to have stents fitted.
He has used all of his savings for the procedure, which will cost 32,000 euros in total to save both of his legs.
It comes after Louis left fans ‘speechless’ as he detailed his romance with Zara in his new track, Palaces, this month.
The couple began dating earlier this year after Zara’s split from Sam Thompson and went Instagram official with a sweet selfie this summer.
And in his latest track, from his new album How Did I Get Here?, Louis seemingly described falling in love with her.
He sings: ‘I can feel it, something is happening/ Is it attraction I’m overreacting to/ Either way, this is not how I planned it / You pull me in completely… You can stay for the night in the palaces of my mind’.
And Zara showed she is his biggest supporter as she took to her Instagram Stories to share that she was listening to the song and praising it as ‘incredible’.
Fans echoed her sentiment as they told Louis: ‘Each new song you release makes me appreciate your sense of musical composition even more, but with Palaces, everything changes, my ears have been blessed!! I love it’;

‘I am speechless, it’s so good’, while others called it their ‘favourite song’ of his so far.
Zara’s first Instagram post with Louis saw the couple kissing, under which Louis commented ‘I love you’.
Their relationship is clearly supported by their siblings, as Zara’s brother wrote ‘beautiful couple’, while Louis’s sister wrote ‘love love’.
Their romance looks to be going from strength to strength as Zara moved into multi-millionaire Louis’s north London mansion, having moved back into her parents’ house after leaving the Fulham home she shared with Sam.
Insiders told The Sun: ‘They’re smitten and she has been spending all of her time at his place, she’s pretty much moved in. Zara has even started making her social media videos from there instead of her parents’ [home].
‘She had been back at her family home after her split from her ex. But Louis’s home and her parents’ house are nowhere near each other, so it made sense that she is spending more time at his.
‘They’re in the honeymoon stage and want to be with each other as much as possible when they’re not working. Zara spent loads of time travelling with Louis this summer and now they’re back in the UK she’s using his place as a base a lot of the time.’
Sam and Zara ended their relationship last December, following a Christmas season spent separately.

A source close to the couple told the Daily Mail at the time: ‘Sam and Zara have ended their relationship. It’s been an incredibly difficult decision for them to part ways, they still care and have a lot of love for each other.
‘But after a tough year of working hard at their romance, they have split and will be focusing on their individual careers going forward into 2025.
‘There has been no scandal or fallout between them, it’s just the result of a difficult year, where they both had to spend a lot of time focused on their own projects.’
