JLS’s Aston Merrygold Suspends Backflips Due to Injury Ahead of UK Tour

Famous for his iconic backflips and dace moves, JLS star Aston Merrygold has been sitting during the band’s UK tour shows after an injury left him on crutches.

The singer, 37, took to TikTok with his wife Sarah-Louise, 36, to tell fans about the injury in a trend where she joked ‘you better be nice’.

Aston, walking up to the camera, said: ‘So, I had a bit of an accident on an injury and basically it requires surgery. So they’ve given me these really cool crutches.’

He went on to show off the huge boot his leg is in a cast while it heals as the injury occurred after a fall in rehearsals, according to the Chronicle Live. 

The band kicked off their comeback tour in Glasgow at the Hydro Arena where he reportedly told fans he’d been advised by his team to postpone, but said there was ‘no way’ he could disappoint fans.

Aston praised his bandmates who had reportedly been forced to make some big changes to the show in order to accommodate his injury. 

Sharing updates on his Instagram, he showed off a bedazzled black cut-off denim jacket which read ‘backflips on hold’ as he posed back stage before the gig.

In the carousel of images he shared a picture of his booted leg resting on an elevated pillow in bed and a snap of the band before their performance.

He also included and a sweet photo of his wife and children Grayson Jax, seven, Macauley Shay, four and Riley Skye, 19 months, in JLS T-shirts.

Aston captioned the post thanking his loved ones for the support: ‘On hold until further notice.. Glasgow you were everything and more.

‘It’s been a week but we got there thanks to my favourites & team… S/o my sis @rochellehumes on the BFOH pics.’

Sarah-Louise, who shares three children with Aston and met him in 2012 while performing as a a backing dancer for JLS, praised him for being a ‘warrior’.

Speaking in a heartfelt Instagram post, she said: ‘Someone said to me today your husband’s a warrior and they are actually right! 

‘The last few weeks have been tough for you both physically and mentally but you kept pushing on, kept going again to do your very best and to not let anyone down.

‘Today we found out the road to recovery is going to be a bit longer than expected which sucks but I’ve got you, we’ve got you and we promise to do our very best to support you.

She added: ‘I love you so much, wish I could squeeze you right now! Instead you’re in our city, the city we said I Do and you’re giving it your all as that’s all you know how to do!

‘And btw you absolutely smash a show on crutches! Just saying. I’m so proud of you my baby, I’ve got you.’ 

Aston’s representatives have ben contacted by the Daily Mail for comment. 

The Noughties boy band, which is composed of four members: Oritsé Williams, 38, JB Gill, 38, Aston and Marvin Humes, 40, went their separate ways 12 years ago to embark on solo careers.

Now, the pop sensations have reunited to perform a limited run of shows across the UK this November.

The tour began in Glasgow, Scotland before stopping in Aberdeen, Newcastle, Belfast, Dublin, Liverpool, Sheffield, Manchester, Cardiff, Leeds, Birmingham, Bournemouth, Brighton, and Nottingham.

The Everybody In Love hitmakers will wrap up their tour with two final shows at London’s iconic O2 Arena on November 28 and November 29.

The 16-date tour will also feature support from very special guest Example, 42, at all shows except for the Bournemouth and Brighton shows.

Fans can expect the shows to be packed front-to-end with classic pop bangers – including the #1 smash hits Beat Again, Everybody In Love, The Club Is Alive, Love You, She Makes Me Wanna and many more.

JLS said: ‘Your boys are back!! We’re SO excited to be back out on the road with another Hits tour bringing the full CLUB vibes to your city!

‘There’s nothing we love more than getting to see you all and perform for you once again.’
