Pop star Shpat Kasapi has died at the age of 40.

TheĀ Albanian singer passed away on Wednesday, after suffering a sudden heart attackĀ in Monza, Italy.

He and wife Selvije Jao were in Italy seeking medical advice for their young son Roel, according to the Daily Star.Ā 

Selvije shared a heart-wrenching post about her husband’s passing, writing that he died in her arms.

‘You left us here alone, without you,’ she wrote on her Instagram Stories, alongside a photo of her husband holding their son.

‘You died in my arms. How close we were, how cooperative we were in maintaining our privacy,’ she went on, adding, ‘You always told me you would love me until death do us part. Why did you die in my arms? Why did you break my heart like this, my love?’

Singer Bebe Rexha, 36, who has Albanian roots, shared a tribute after learning the news.

Rexha posted a clip ofĀ Kasapi singing with an emoji of a white dove and an Albanian flag.

Kasapi married Selvije in 2021, and the pair lived in Tirana in Albania. The couple met during the filming of one of his music videos.

The pair went on to have son Roel.

Kasapi, known for multiple chart hits, had no known medical conditions, making his death yesterday a shock to those close to him.Ā

Kasapi also had nearly 340,000 monthly listeners on Spotify.

Kasapi competed to represent Albania in the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest.

He was ultimately defeated by Kejsi Tola, who performed Carry Me in Your Dreams.
