They say in the old cowboy films: ‘This town ain’t big enough for the both of us.’
But that’s not the case for divorcing couple Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban, who have both put down deep roots in Nashville, Tennessee.
Neither, it seems, will budge.
Country star Urban, 58, lived there first – it’s the home of country music after all.
Actress Kidman, also 58, moved in with him when they got married in 2006, and two years later they moved to a magnificent whopper of a house in a gated community called Northumberland, where they raised their two children Sunday, 17, and Faith, 14.
Following their separation in September, Kidman has stayed in that house, while Urban has moved into temporary digs which are apparently ‘very nearby’.

They have both been spotted since – separately – at the same Whole Foods store in the Nashville suburb Franklin.
A local source tells me they both still go to the same hairdresser, too. Ashley Wahler is responsible for Keith’s (in)famous highlights and for Nicole’s strawberry blonde hair.
It’s not clear whether they both also still attend the same local church where they used to worship.
They are sharing time with their children, who continue at the same school in Nashville.
As per a custody agreement which was signed by Urban in August this year, Kidman gets 306 days of the year with the children and he gets them for just 59, including Thanksgiving.
His mandated time with the girls is from 10am on a Saturday to 6pm on a Sunday every other weekend. Over the past few weeks, Urban has been to Palm Beach in Florida, to perform at a charity event at President Donald Trump’s Mar-A-Lago resort, and also popped up in Fort Worth, Texas.
Last week he was on stage at the Country Music Awards in Nashville.
The couple’s split emerged earlier this year, with Kidman filing for divorce on September 30, citing irreconcilable differences.
The custody agreement said that Urban had ‘pre paid’ all his financial obligations towards the children, and all matters seemed to be swiftly settled.
Of course, normal couples might expect to ‘share out’ their friends and hope they don’t bump into each other in the street. Friends of Kidman confirm she isn’t upping sticks any time soon and remains very committed to her life in Nashville where her social circle includes the actress Reese Witherspoon.
In spring next year Kidman will start filming a new series of Scarpetta – the drama based on Patrica Cornwell’s novels featuring pathologist Dr Kay Scarpetta. The first series has already been made and will be out on in March next year, also starring Jamie Lee Curtis as Scarpetta’s sister, Dorothy.
Kidman and Urban were married in June 2006 and were last seen together in June this year. Not long after, fans began to notice subtle changes in their behaviour: though Urban previously referred to his wife as ‘babygirl’, for example, and spoke about her frequently, he stopped mentioning Kidman at all while on tour over the summer.
When news of the split finally emerged, one source told People magazine: ‘Nicole’s hurt and feels betrayed. It’s devastating to her. She’s shocked.’ The insider also claimed that Nicole ‘didn’t want this and has been fighting to save the marriage.’
TMZ – which broke the story of their separation – went further, with a Kidman source saying: ‘All the signs point to the fact Keith is with another woman.
‘Let’s just say, Nicole doesn’t dispute that. But she’s still shocked over it.’
Kidman’s team declined to comment on the rumours, as did Urban’s.
Urban has been linked to singer Karley Scott Collins (pictured), who performs on his tour. Both she and Urban were at the Country Music Awards in Nashville last week – but separately.
Scott Collins, 25, has toured with Urban and other country stars like Willie Nelson. ‘It’s amazing being on the road with Keith,’ she said earlier this year. ‘He’s an incredible entertainer, and I respect him so much… and I’ve learned a lot watching him.’
Gossip linked him briefly with singer Maggie Baugh, who he has duetted with on tour. However country singer Alexandra Kay said: ‘I know that’s absolutely not true. Honestly I was heartbroken for them because the media scrutiny is insane and the things that people say. I’ve met her boyfriend. She’s very happy.’
Urban was also linked to singer Karley Scott Collins, who also performs on his tour. Both she and Urban were at the Country Music Awards in Nashville last week – but separately.

In a video posted on Instagram to mark her tour with him, they couldn’t appear to be more delighted and giggly in each other’s company. A photo posted on Instagram on July 16 this year, meanwhile, shows them with their arms around each other, heads resting on each other’s shoulders. ‘Somebody pinch me,’ writes Scott Collins. ‘I feel like I’m dreamin’.’
Since the split, Urban has appeared in a TV talent show, The Road, for CBS. He is also fronting a ‘Castin’ the Cowboy’ campaign for Mexican food makers Old El Paso, in which he helped choose a new ‘singing cowboy’ mascot to represent the brand.
The winner, a performer named Elroy, was crowned by Urban in July 2025 and will be featured in future Old El Paso advertisements.
