Jack Osbourne’s wife Aree Gearhart: ‘I’m A Celebrity’ stint aids his grief after Ozzy’s death.

Jack Osbourne’s wife Aree Gearhart has revealed his appearance on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! has helped him to ‘navigate’ his grief following the death of his father Ozzy.

The Osbournes star, 40, has moved into the famous jungle four months after the rocker died in July, following a battle with Parkinson’s.

In the show, Jack has spoken openly about coming to terms with his father’s passing, breaking down in tears as he told his campmates that his death ‘still feels fresh’ after it came as ‘a shock’ to the family.

But speaking on spin-off I’m A Celebrity: Unpacked on Wednesday, Aree said she thinks being around his ‘funny’ campmates is helping to life Jack’s spirits.

She said: ‘It’s kind of a funny time to be doing something like this, but it’s helpful…

‘I think he’s going to want to come out of it with the connections and the fact that he did it – he’s very competitive, and he loves the outdoors, and I think he just wants to see this through.’

It was previously reported that Jack was being closely monitored by ITV bosses after an emotional start to life in the jungle, as viewers saw him open up to campmates Ruby Wax and Lisa Riley about Ozzy’s death.

Aree said: ‘I found his connections with Lisa and Ruby to be really heartwarming. I think that they’re such kind, warm souls that are so funny, and I feel like in this season that Jack is in, he needs people like that by his side.

‘And I was really happy to find those connections.’

During Wednesday night’s episode, Jack told Lisa that Ozzy would have been tuning in to see how he gets on in the Australian jungle, as well as how Jack performs in the gruesome Bushtucker Trials.

Lisa asked: ‘Would he have watched it?’

Jack replied: ‘He would have, yeah. He absolutely would’ve watched it.’

Ruby wondered: ‘Did he get [the concept of the show]?’

Jack responded: ‘He got it, but he was just like, ‘Why would anyone do that?’

‘He’s the last person on planet Earth that should ever question why anyone should’ve ever done anything.’

Despite his emotional reaction to reflecting on Ozzy’s death, Jack has impressed viewers by breezing through the Bushtucker trials, even completing his first solo challenge in record time on Tuesday.

Jack took on his first solo Bushtucker Trial, Drown The Hatch, where he had to dive down underwater in eight different chambers to search for stars hidden in hatches.

He had two minutes in each chamber, and twelve stars to find in total across the eight chambers which were filled with dragons, mud crabs, eels and toads.

Ahead of the trial, Jack said: ‘I’m a little nervous about doing this alone… I have to come back with ten stars’.

As he completed the first part of the trial a shocked Ant and Dec said he had done it in an impressive 26 seconds and he kept up the speed throughout.

Ant joked: ‘He’s holding his breath, we might actually get to play golf today!’

‘Good lungs’, praised Dec, before Ant added: ‘The man’s a machine, Jack Osbourne for the Olympics’.

Dec explained, ‘He’s got a minute to go in this final box’. Ant insisted, ‘He won’t need it Dec’.

However Dec pointed out, ‘Don’t celebrate til the medal is round his neck’.

But Ant was right and Jack successfully collected all 12 stars in record time, and also called the trial ‘fun!’.

Jack shot to fame alongside his older sister Kelly, 41, when they appeared alongside their parents in the hit MTV reality show The Osbournes between 2002 and 2005.

However, the jungle has taken a physical toll on the star, who recently admitted that he and his fellow celebs have been losing a lot of weight.

Jack revealed the brutal side effects of his weight loss while in the I’m A Celebrity jungle after being left in agony amid ‘malnutrition’ fears.

The 40-year-old appeared on Monday’s episode of ITV2’s programme I’m a Celebrity… Unpacked to answer some viewers questions.

Jack confessed that he would smuggle in a camping chair because he and his co-stars cannot bear to sit on the hard logs anymore due to having ‘chafed a****’ from shifting the pounds.
