Love Island’s Jonny Mitchell has become a father as his girlfriend Simone Engelhardt gives birth to their first child.
Simone endured a ‘complicated four-day labour and emergency C-section’ and on Wednesday, Jonny shared a gallery of images on Instagram.
From the labour, to the moment Jonny held the baby in his arms, it appeared as though the couple had been through quite the journey to meet their first-born.
Jonny, 33, wrote in the caption: ‘Welcome to the world, my boy ❤️
‘What a crazy journey this past week has been.. we planned for a nice smooth home birth, but of course life had some curveballs in store for us.

Jonny, 33, wrote in the caption: ‘Welcome to the world, my boy ❤️’
‘Days of stress, pain and sleepless nights, complications came up and then eventually we were rushed to the hospital for an emergency C-section.
‘With all the complications, stress, lack of sleep, and seeing someone you love suffering, my brain was racing to all kinds of possible outcomes, mostly not good.
‘So I’m beyond grateful everything worked out. What a woman @engelhardtlund is.
‘Going through 4 days of labour, in and out of extreme pain, undergoing surgery to get our boy here, and even now she’s making it all look easy like the Viking she is.
‘Everything’s only now just starting to sink in and feel real! Time for the next chapter.’
Jonny first announced he was to become a father for the first time in July.
He famously lasted 38 days in the Love Island villa back in 2017 and was coupled up with Amber Davies, and in the summer, he joked that while ‘never being a fan of kids’ he was now ‘warming up to the idea’ of being a dad.
At the time, Jonny shared a slew of loved up snaps with Simone, including one of him cradling her blossoming bump while gushing what an ‘amazing’ mother she will be.
He penned: ‘Well.. she’s getting too big to keep this a secret much longer, as Bella Ramsey would say – I’m gonna be a dad’ – in reference to the actor’s famous line in The Last Of Us, which has since become a meme.
‘I don’t post much personal stuff on here, but I’ll make an exception for this. Anyone who knows me well, knows that I was never a massive fan of the idea of kids.’

The couple moved to Bali in 2020, and said his move has led him to ‘change a lot’ as his ‘priorities reshuffle[d] almost overnight’
He said at the time: ‘Well.. she’s getting too big to keep this a secret much longer, as Bella Ramsey would say – I’m gonna be a dad’
He went on: ‘But I think it’s something that you don’t really feel until you have a woman in your life who you know will be an amazing mother. Which I know @engelhardtlund will be. So it’s safe to say I’ve warmed up to the idea’.
‘Life has been an endless rollercoaster of unexpected twists and turns over the past decade, it’s hard to imagine where we were even 5 years ago to where we are now.
Before adding: And it looks like the next chapter is here right on time! Baby Mitchell coming end of the year, let’s hope i can figure this whole Dad thing out’.
Fans and famous friends rushed to share their congratulations with fellow new dad and Love Islander Adam Collard writing: ‘Congrats mate!’.
While Rykard Jenkins said: ‘Congratulations and blessings to you both’: and Geordie Shore’s James Tindale added: ‘Get in mate buzzing for you both! Congratulations’.
Jonny previously revealed how he’d traded the reality star life for a new calling, taking care of stray dogs in Bali with girlfriend Simone.
He moved to the Indonesian island in 2020, and said his move has led him to ‘change a lot’ as his ‘priorities reshuffle[d] almost overnight’.
Taking to social media, in a lengthy caption alongside a snap with the dogs he’s been taking care of, Jonny explained: ‘I’ve changed a lot in the last 6 months.
‘And when I say changed a lot, I mean almost a complete 180 in how I see life and how I gauge my success and happiness. And how I’ve noticed my priorities reshuffle almost overnight.
‘But one of the biggest most unexpected changes I’ve seen in myself is my new overwhelming sense of duty towards helping dogs on this tiny little island.
‘And how I feel like somehow one of my higher purposes in life is to make a difference by helping more dogs that need it.
‘I’ve fallen in love with Bali since I’ve been living out here but it doesn’t excuse some of the approaches they have in relation to animal rights and how they’re treated.’
Going on to detail the conditions these stray dogs face on the island, he went on to say a lot are ‘on the street’ but while most ‘get by just fine’ there are many puppies that struggle to find food.
He added that there are also ‘the older or weaker dogs who end up starving or getting seriously ill with no help.’
‘These problems aren’t huge compared to many of the worlds issues right now,’ Jonny continued. ‘But it is something that I feel that I can make a real impact on in my own way.
