Louise Thompson Bed-Bound Amid New Health Struggles After Childbirth Trauma

Louise Thompson has revealed she is bed bound while battling a new health problem – after admitting she’ll never be able to have another child.

The former Made In Chelsea star, 35, who now campaigns for women’s health and maternity rights, nearly died giving birth to her son Leo in 2021, and developed post-traumatic stress as a result of the horrific complications she endured.

And last week she revealed that her injuries – which include developing Asherman’s Syndrome, in which scar tissue in the uterus becomes ‘glued’ together, worsening bowel problems and emergency surgery after a post-natal haemorrhage – means that she cannot carry another child.

Now, Louise has opened up about being forced to work in bed after coming down with a sickness bug.

Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, Louise shared a video and could be heard saying: ‘Hello guys, happy Tuesday, The suns out and I’m feeling a lot better today.

‘I actually didn’t even share this so I probably don’t need to but yesterday I worked from bed because I was not feeling very well.’

She continued: ‘I think I’m not alone actually. Poor Louisa I work with was throwing up all last week and also Holly who I work with just arrived to the house and threw up outside and so we’ve had to get her into a cab.

‘So if you’re suffering with the lurgy just remember that you are not alone and there’s not a lot annoyingly we can about it because most of these things are viruses, which is is frustrating.

‘They need to bring out a cure.’

Elsewhere Louise revealed she has discovered she has an ovarian cyst after a scan last week.

She said: ‘Also I had a couple of scans last week that weirdly flagged I’ve got an enormous hemorrhagic cyst on my right ovary. I think it’s 5cm, which is a bit weird.

‘Five centimetres… I’m pretty sure that’s like the depth of my entire stomach. So I don’t know how that could be I’ve not had one of these before.

‘I’m not actually in any pain that’s not what my issue is. I’ve got some ulcerative colitis problems.’

It comes after Louise revealed she will never be able to have another child following the severe birth trauma she suffered four years ago.

After speaking about her ordeal to the Birth Trauma All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) in the summer, Louise, who serialised her memoirs in The Mail on Sunday’s You magazine last year, teamed up with former Conservative MP Theo Clarke.

Together, Louise and Theo, who set up the APPG and led the first national inquiry into birth trauma, are launching a petition in two weeks’ time calling on the Government to appoint a commissioner to oversee maternity care – and they hope to reach the 100,000 signatures required to prompt a Parliamentary debate.

Louise told this newspaper that a generation of women are being put off having children after reading horror stories.

She said: ‘It’s something that a lot of people within my circle are talking about fairly regularly – the population problems we have.

‘Thousands of women are crying out to me about this topic. Speaking on my own personal experience, I won’t be able to carry another child.

‘So immediately that puts us in a position where we are part of that problem now.’

Theo, 40, ended up with incontinence and a third-degree perineal tear after having her three-year-old daughter Arabella.

The niece of politician Jacob Rees-Mogg, she became a viral sensation after she broke down in tears in the House of Commons talking about her experience.

‘Women have lost trust for the system and, unfortunately, they probably don’t feel safe to give birth in British hospitals today,’ she said.
