Pauline Hanson Faces Kyle and Jackie O Staffer Reactions After Day Interning

It seems that Pauline Hanson has quite a few fans among listeners of The Kyle and Jackie O show.

The radio duo sent producer Pete Deppeler, 41, to Parliament House this week where he interned for the recently suspended Australian senator, 71, and the resulting clip overwhelmingly resonated with their audience.

‘I’m interning for Pauline Hanson today,’ he began the clip as he sat next to Pauline in her parliamentary office.

He didn’t have much time to relax, with the controversial senator giving Pete his first task for the day – organising her for a morning radio interview.

He went above and beyond the brief when he informed Pauline that he had locked her into a chat with Sarah Ferguson on the ABC’s 7:30 Report.

‘I’ve got an engagement with the people that are coming to see our trailer, so it’s not going to happen tonight,’ she flatly informed her junior staff member.

Pauline was quite impressed with Pete’s coffee-making abilities, telling him: ‘Kyle’s really trained you quite well hasn’t he?’ before giving Pete a ‘perfect’ for his brew.

Pete also took on the role of Pauline’s stylist, presenting her with a sparkling silver garment to wear for the since-cancelled premiere of the trailer of her upcoming film A Super Progressive Movie.

Despite Pauline being quite tickled with Pete’s sartorial choice, she told her intern: ‘I can tell you right now it’s not going to happen.’

She appeared to be getting frustrated with Pete midway through his shift as he proceeded to clutter her office with The Kyle & Jackie O show merchandise.

‘I hope you’re not like this with Kyle,’ she said. ‘You leave everything lying around. It’s a mess.’

He later surprised his boss, who was in the middle of a radio interview, by donning the sparkling playsuit he presented Pauline with earlier.

After sitting in on a senate meeting and giving Pauline’s office a quick spray and wipe, Pete helped himself to some of Pauline’s mulberry pie – which she quickly picked up on.

‘Do you think I’m stupid?’ she laughed. ‘I pick up everything.’

When Pete revealed to Pauline that he didn’t think he was intelligent enough to enter politics, she was quick with some inspiring words.

‘One good thing about Australia  is that any Australian out there can actually, if they really want to, can become a member of Parliament if they wanted to work hard at it,’ she said.

‘And then you have the opportunity to go on to be a prime minister. We have those opportunities. Never ever put yourself down.’

‘Love you intern Pete,’ one fan gushed. ‘The show would not be the same without you! And let’s put Pauline Hanson as Prime Minister so we can get things done in our country!’

Another chimed in with a similar: ‘Pauline PM please!!!’ echoing the sentiment of many.

Others were quick to praise Pauline for her self-effacing presentation in the clip.

‘Pauline is so genuine,’ one listener wrote, while another suggested: ‘She looks legit fun to be around.’

Pauline was suspended from Parliament for seven days on Monday after she entered the chamber wearing a burqa in a protest against Islamic dress.

The stunt was widely condemned by both sides of the house, with Independent Senator Fatima Payman, who wears a hijab, saying the incident could lead to schoolgirls and women wearing hijabs to be abused or assaulted.

Pauline also launched a blistering attack on Parliament after officials cancelled the screening of One Nation’s new movie trailer, labelling it as ‘censorship’ and a ‘betrayal of free speech’.

She seems unaffected by the backlash, with her party’s popularity surging ahead this year, largely due to the collapse of the Liberal vote.

Recent polls show One Nation holding around 15 to 20 per cent of the national vote, making it one of the most influential minor parties in Australia.
