Love and Hip Hop Star Responds to Trolls Over Ex’s Funeral Photos

Love and Hip Hop star Masika Kalysha furiously defended herself after being trolled for posting photos from her estranged husband Jamar Champs’ funeral.

Champs, 38, was killed in a car crash last month in Houston after a BMW traveling in the wrong direction hit his Tesla Cybertruck, which then careened into an 18-wheeler.

Kalysha, 40, posted Instagram photos Monday night of herself at the funeral, weeping profusely and at one point being physically held up by her father.

Many of the photos also featured her crying daughters, Khari, nine, whom she had with Fetty Wap, and Amari, three, whom she had with Champs.

‘I took my vows. Till death do us part… I will carry on your legacy,’ wrote Kalysha, who married Champs in 2021, split from him in 2023 and filed for an annulment last year.

After being slammed by social media users who regarded the photos as being in bad taste, Kalysha issued a scathing response on her Insta Stories Monday night, fuming: ‘If you have a problem with ANYTHING I post on MY PAGE involving MY HUSBAND, MY LIFE, MY KIDS, or literally anything I invite you to go fk yourself and unfollow me.’

‘I will NOT be explaining myself in any way shape, form or fashion to a single SOUL,’ she thundered to her more than 850,000 followers.

‘To everyone who has supported me and my kids…I can’t thank you enough. You have carried me on your backs. Please continue to check on us. Just Showing up is worth more than gold,’ Kalysha concluded.

The photos she posted showed her consoling her daughters, wiping her tears, wailing with sobs and clinging to her father for physical support.

‘Grief is the loudest silent echo that you will never hear but can’t get out of your head. It’s deafening. It’s like a stab to your heart. It feels like breathing with no lungs. Without your support I don’t know where I would be,’ she wrote in the caption.

‘I took my vows. Till death do us part… I will carry on your legacy. You will always have a place in my forever broken heart not one minute of one single day goes by that I don’t think about you,’ Kalysha continued, tagging Champs.

In spite of her defiant message to her critics Monday night, she continued to be trolled into Tuesday, such as by one X user who jeered: ‘Lmaoooo I’m screaming, masika crazy as hell. Got baby girl in mess smh.’

‘Masika,’ wrote another: ‘is a sick lady to have someone take all them pictures of her crying at a funeral to post them gives performative not grieving wife very strange.’

Still another snorted: ‘Masika said “Here’s my phone. Take pictures of me and my children crying”. Likeee, girl. Why would you even post this?’

Champs’ family confirmed his death October 28, after the Houston Police Department issued a press release about the crash without using his name.

He was apparently driving his Tesla Cybertruck on on the Katy Freeway when a silver BMW traveling the wrong way struck his car head-on.

The BMW burst into flame and its male driver was killed on the scene, while Champs’ Cybertruck then collided with a blue Freightliner 18-wheeler.

Champs was critically injured and later pronounced dead at the hospital, while the 66-year-old male driving the 18-wheeler was unharmed.

When she first announced his death, Kalysha said that even after they separated, he treated Khari – her daughter by Fetty Wap – as if she were his own child.

‘I think it’s going to take a while to really, fully process things. And, you know, grief, it is a journey,’ she told the local Houston outlet KHOU-11.

Referring to the daughter she had with Champs, she said: ‘You know, our three-year-old, I asked if she understood. She said: “Yeah.” I said: “What do you understand?” She said: “I want to go with daddy and God in heaven and get the candy.”‘
