Frances Bean Cobain rejected Liam Gallagher’s advance

Courtney Love has revealed her daughter Frances Bean Cobain’s furious reaction when she turned down Liam Gallagher.

Courtney’s story about nearly bedding the Oasis frontman has gone viral this week in the wake of the band’s reunion.

The widow of Nirvana rocker Kurt Cobain, 60, famously enjoyed a raucous night with Liam in 2000 – but turned down his advances due to his looks and personal hygiene – likening him to a ’13th century serf.’

She admitted during the hilarious anecdote that her daughter Frances was not impressed, as she is a huge Oasis fan.

‘Frances, who loves Oasis more than Nirvana, was furious I didn’t sleep with him,’ Courtney admitted.

She texted me saying: ‘Mommy you are an epic sl*t but you never slept with Liam Gallagher!”

Back in 2015 Frances declared her love for Oasis in an interview with Rolling Stone, stating that she prefers the Britpop group to her late father’s band. ‘I don’t really like Nirvana that much,’ she admitted.

‘Sorry, promotional people, Universal. I’m more into Mercury Rev, Oasis, Brian Jonestown Massacre. The grunge scene is not what I’m interested in.’ However, she added that Nirvana’s Territorial P***ings is ‘a f**king great song’.

Courtney’s encounter with Liam came about when he played her his hit Songbird in London’s famed Groucho club.

Speaking to Metro in 2014, she said the frontman asked her ‘what do you think of me?’ – with Love saying: ‘I mean, he was lovely but he had really bad breath from being up all night and his eyebrows kind of met in the middle.

‘And I just thought he looked like a 13th century serf from Monty Python. And I blurted it out loud.’

She added that Liam wasn’t insulted as he ‘didn’t understand me’.

The pair were famously pictured in a cab in London that year – with romance rumors igniting.

She previously said she had desperately wanted to meet Liam before their encounter and was mesmerized by his singing ability She said: ‘I kept thinking. Liam’s the talent ! It’s not Noel!( unfair I’m sure . It’s them both).’

Frances meanwhile tied the knot with Riley Hawk, who is Tony Hawk’s son last October.

Frances, who works as a model and artist, and Riley, who is the son of iconic skateboarder Tony, reportedly exchanged vows in a LA ceremony officiated by her godfather, R.E.M. singer Michael Stipe.

Frances – whose father tragically took his life in April of 1994 at the age of 27 – celebrated her 30th birthday in 2023 and used the milestone to reflect on the past decade.

In an Instagram post commemorating the occasion, she said that she had been unsure of her fate at one point.

She said: “30!!! I made it! Honestly, 20 year old Frances wasn’t sure that was going to happen. At the time, an intrinsic sense of deep self loathing dictated by insecurity, destructive coping mechanisms and more trauma than my body or brain knew how to handle, informed how I saw myself and the world.’

Frances said she viewed the world ‘through a lens of resentment for being brought into a life that seemingly attracted so much chaos and the kind of pain tied to grief that felt inescapable.’

She said the frontman asked her 'what do you think of me?'  (pictured in 2000) saying: ' I mean, he was lovely but he had really bad breath from being up all night and his eyebrows kind of met in the middle.

She added: ‘There’s a quote by @jaiyajohn I hold closely, which is “the softer she became with herself, the softer she became with the world.” It’s a sentiment I try to remember daily.

‘Entering this new decade I hope to stay soft no matter how hardening the world can feel at times, bask in the present moment with reverence, shower the people.’

‘I am lucky enough to love with more appreciation than words could ever do justice hold space to keep learning, so the growth never stops.’

Frances wrapped up in writing, ‘I’m happy to be here and I’m happy you’re here too.’
