Zoe Foster-Blake Closes Skincare Business: ‘Deserves Better’

Zoe Foster-Blake has announced the closure of her Gro-To skincare brand.

The journalist-turned-businesswoman, 45, has revealed she is shutting down her children’s bathing and skincare range.

‘We’re waving goodbye to Gro-To,’ she said on Tuesday.

Zoe explained she launched the brand in 2019 after struggling to find products for her children’s dry and itchy skin.

‘So, we built a brand that appealed to kids and gave them a sense of ownership… Ultimately, though, Gro-To deserves better than we can give her,’ she continued.

‘Delivering three brands to the high standard our customers expect (and we expect of ourselves) is no longer sustainable as Go-To, our all-encompassing peach diva, gallops off in so many new categories, and with more still to come.’

Zoe said she will ‘miss the brand’ but it’s a business decision she has had to make.

‘We are privileged to have been part of so many bed and bath time rituals. Thank you for trusting us to help you soothe all those rashy tummies, nuclear hair knots and bad dreams,’ she continued.

‘To send off Gro-To, and make sure you can stock up on your favourites, we have LUDICROUS savings site-wide on all Gro-To products (while stocks last).’

Aside from the Gro-To range, Zoe also owns the skincare brand Go-To.

Last year, she bought back her stake in her brand after beauty company BWX went into administration.

The Australian author first sold her 51.5 per cent stake to the ASX listed beauty conglomerate for $89million in 2021.

But just two years later, Zoë and Go-To co-founder Paul Bates bought back their controlling stake in the business for a fraction of the price at $21.8million after BWX collapsed into administration in April 2023.

Zoe, who founded the brand in 2014, had continued as chief creative officer and director of Go-To after first selling her shares to BWX, and is now full force back into running her business.

BWX suffered losses of $335million in the 2021-2022 financial year, with mining magnate Andrew Forrest stepping in to bail the company out.

Go-To had distanced itself from BWX, saying it is operationally independent despite BWX owning 51 per cent of shares.

BWX revealed in February 2023 that it had bled another $100million in the first half of the financial year with the company’s chief executive Rory Gration stepping down.

In April that year, BWX was placed into voluntary admission. KPMG was appointed to handle its collapse.
