EastEnders’ Nicholas Bailey Joins Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special After 11-Year Return

EastEnders’ Nicholas Bailey has reportedly signed up for this year’s Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special, just months after his shock return to the BBC soap.

The actor, 54, who plays Doctor Anthony Trueman, will be joining the line-up alongside previously announced stars including TV’s Scarlett Moffatt and All Saint’s Melanie Blatt.

According to reports Nicholas has previous theatre experience and  plans to ‘put on a show’ for fans when hitting the dance floor this festive season. 

Filming will take place on December 9 and will be on our screens on December 25. 

A source said: ‘Nicholas has one of TV’s most recognisable faces but has never really stepped outside the character of Doctor Trueman.

‘This will be the first time he’s really strode out as Nicholas so this will be lots of fun for fans.

They told The Sun: ‘He’s quite the hunk, too, and has theatre experience which he showed off on Soapstar Superstar in 2006, so he looks set to put on a great show.’ 

The actor reprised his role earlier this year after 11-years, and made his character returned in explosive scenes alongside former girlfriend Zoe Slater (Michelle Ryan). 

Daily Mail have contacted BBC and Nicholas’ representatives for comment. 

It comes after All Saint’s Melanie was announced as the second celebrity to compete in the upcoming Christmas special on Monday.

Singer Melanie, 50, is set to join Gogglebox star Scarlett Moffatt, 35, on the dance floor and she will be paired with Kai Widdrington, 30, danced with reality star Vicky Pattison, 38, in this year’s main competition. 

Speaking ahead of the show, Melaine said: ‘If you can’t have a dance at Christmas, when can you?!’.

‘I’m so excited to meet Kai and start training to make this a dance to remember.’

Melanie was part of All Saints alongside Natalie Appleton, 52, Nicole Appleton, 50, Shaznay Lewis, 50, and Simone Rainford.

The girl band were together between 1993 and 2001, reunited again between 2006 and 2008 and then another stint from 2013 to 2022. 

Some of their best known songs include Never Ever Pure Shores and Black Coffee. 

Strictly isn’t the only show that she has appeared in, over the years Melanie has been a part of The Hot Desk, The X Factor New Zealand, Celebrity MasterChef and Celebrity Race Across The World.  

Melanie and five other celebrities, include Scarlett, will battle it out to try and get their hands on the Glitterball Trophy. 

Viewers will be happy to know that Tess Daly, 56, and Claudia Winkleman, 53, will be hosting the special for one final time, after it was revealed that the pair were leaving the show after 14 years of presenting together. 

Judges Shirley Ballas, 65, Craig Revel Horwood, 60, Motsi Mabuse, 44, and Anton Du Beke, 59,  will also be back to give their critique and scoring. 

Scarlett Moffatt was the first celebrity confirmed to be taking part in this year’s Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special.

The Gogglebox star revealed the news on Friday evening’s episode of Strictly: It Takes Two, where she was appearing as a guest on the show’s Friday Panel. 

Scarlett will be paired with professional dancer Vito Coppola when she enters the Strictly Christmas ballroom this December.

The Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer this Christmas.
