Big Brother Australia returned to TV screens on Monday night.

But not everyone was amused by the direction the rebooted Channel Seven show is taking.

Packed full of sexy singles ready to sizzle, many felt the new season has more in common with Love Island than the Brig Brother of old.

Scores of viewers shared their thoughts on social media, and while some said they were ‘not complaining’ about the racy new direction, others were unenthused.

‘They really trying to rebrand Big Brother as Love Island. So sad to see what was once a great show absolutely ruined. Gretel would never allow for this’ wrote one person.

‘Yeah I’m out. This is just Love Island with wannabe influencers. Bring back the days of regular people on here. Why would I want to vote for any of these people?!’ another wrote.

‘They’ve changed #BBAU to be like Love Island then’ someone else agreed.

Another said, ‘What a sad sad premiere. Please don’t try and cast love island again. We don’t want it’.

‘Worst. Show. Ever. This isn’t Love Island, completely destroyed Big Brother’ one more viewer said.

‘Congrats on ruining the one show I liked Channel 7’ chimed in another viewer.

‘Where’s the gameplay, the strategising, the forming of alliances? It’s just seeing who can hook up the fastest’ someone else said.

‘If this isn’t the death of Big Brother in Australia I will be shocked…’ declared another.

‘I don’t know what I just watched, but it sure as hell wasn’t the #BigBrotherAU I know and love’ one more wrote.

Others slammed the show for its lack of diversity in the hot, young contestants.

‘Couldn’t even finish the first episode of Big brother AU. Where’s the diversity?? This is not Love Island’ said one person.

Another wrote: ‘#BBAU hasn’t been the social experiment it started out as for years now. Diversity? When was the last time they had anybody over 35?’

One more agreed: ‘About 10 min in and think I’m already out. Glad to see Channel Seven continue to disappoint. Showing the diversity of Australia…’
