Coronation Street star Sam Robertson is reportedly set to stay on the show for another year as he has now agreed to an ‘extension of his contract’.
The Scottish actor, 38, who plays Adam Barlow on the ITV soap, previously hinted that he could depart the soap amid Sarah Platt’s romance with Damon, claiming that his character ‘would find it too hard’ if he found out he is not the baby’s father.
However, celebrations may be in store for fans as a source revealed to The Sun that the main star has signed on for another year.
The source revealed: ‘Everyone was so happy Sam agreed to stay another year – they’ve got some good storylines in the pipeline for his character so it’s going to be an exciting year.’

Sam has been playing the role of Adam Barlow since 2004, taking over the role from Iain De Caestecker, who played him from 2001 to 2003.
The actor played the role for three years before leaving but returned in 2016 and has remained on the soap ever since.
During that time, the character has been caught up in several hard-hitting storylines including a whodunnit and a murder plot.
He returned from Canada in 2016 to look after his grandfather Ken Barlow, played by William Roache, following his stroke, and Adam became a prominent solicitor for the locals of Weatherfield.
However, a year later, he became one of the central suspects of attempted murder after Ken was brutally pushed down a set of stairs.
In 2020, he married Sarah Platt, played by Tina O’Brien, however, in 2023 their marriage broke down when she had an affair with bad boy Damon Hay, played by Ciaran Griffiths.
As a result of the affair, Sarah shockingly fell pregnant and Adam was left heartbroken and wanting a taste for revenge.
His anger towards Sarah, however, nearly got him killed as Damon kidnapped Adam and held a gun to his head.
