Katy Perry’s Awkward BBC Radio 2 Interview with Scott Mills

Katy Perry made an awkward gaffe during an interview with  BBC Radio 2 DJ Scott Mills on Tuesday.

The singer, 39, was reminiscing with the radio show host, 51, about the last time they’d been together, more than ten years ago.

The singer started off by commenting that so much had changed in those ten years,  referring to her four-year-old daughter Daisy Dove before Scott revealed that he had recently got married.

After Scott announced the news, Katy asked the openly gay host what HER name was – presuming he married a woman – before the DJ awkwardly corrected her.

During the embarrassing exchange Scott said: ‘We are long overdue a catch up, we did speak on a zoom call during the pandemic but I think in person it has been about 10 years.’

Before Katy said that ‘a lot has gone on’ and she now has ‘a whole child who I’m responsible for and raising.’

Scott then surprised the singer with news of his nuptials to which Katy replied: ‘Good! What’s her name?’.

Scott then awkwardly corrected her but she put her foot in it further by saying: ‘Right… a lot has changed in 10 years!’.

Scott then replied: ‘No that was definitely the case then! But Sam is his name.’, after which the singer congratulated him.

The BBC Radio host and his partner Sam Vaughn, 35, tied the knot on June 2 in Barcelona after getting together in 2017.

Pixie Lott performed during the intimate ceremony, singing How Long Will I Love You as they said their vows, while Calum Scott sung his hit song You Are The Reason.

Scott and Sam said their vows in front of their nearest and dearest against the stunning Spanish backdrop.

The dashing newlyweds looked dapper in matching black tuxedos and bow ties and wore black-rimmed sunglasses.

Katy described being a mother as ‘the best decision I ever made,’.

She acknowledged that she was an older mother but said: ‘I am so glad I got to make it on my own terms and timeline, I became a mum at 36, at 35 and I had already checked off so many boxes and I really set an intention to bring her into the world, did a lot of pre work before then and she is just my gift, my joy.’

The Last Friday Night singer recently shared that the track was inspired by her and fiancé Orlando Bloom’s daughter Daisy, who turns four August 20.

It comes less than one month after her comeback single Woman’s World failed to impress fans.

Katy revealed how her daughter inspired her upcoming song in an appearance on The One Show.

She said that the idea for the tune stemmed from a sweet exchange between her and the tot.

The proud mother gushed, ‘Lifetimes is a song that I wrote inspired by my daughter. Obviously, I tell her ”I love you” before she goes to bed every night, but I’ve started telling her, ”Will you find me in every lifetime?” and she says ”Yes.”’
