Deadpool and Wolverine continues to dominate at the box office well into its first full week, as star Ryan Reynolds praised one of the film’s unsung heroes.
The film features a scene where Reynolds’ title character Deadpool pulls off an impressive dance routine set to NSYNC’s 2000 hit Bye Bye Bye.
Reynolds was asked about the sequence during a recent press conference (via With Ashley And Co.) where he admitted that it was a dancer named Nick Pauley was performing all those moves.
Pauley himself also shared a post on Instagram revealing himself as the Deadpool dance double, while director Shawn Levy also sung his praises.
This also comes as the superhero sequel set yet another box office record, scoring the highest Tuesday gross for an R-rated movie with $24 million (via Deadline).

When asked about the NSYNC dance scene in the film, Reynolds was asked how hard it was to learn the choreography for the scenes, when he revealed the dance double.
‘Confession for you… a lot of people don’t know I can sing and move well, but that is actually the first lie I’ll tell today,’ he joked.
‘A guy named Nick Pauley is the guy that choreographed, and I mean he’s doing a lot of the moves that have been established previously by NSYNC,’ Reynolds said.
‘If it looks like the person who’s dancing doesn’t have arthritis, that’s him. There’s the moments where, you know, there’s a bit of a pop and lock, except the pop, the pop really pops, like it cracks. And the lock will not unlock,’ Reynolds joked.
‘So yeah, I would do anything I could to free myself up. But yeah, I will hang on Nick Pauley’s talent. I will hang my hat on his talent there and thank him for his contribution and services,’ Reynolds said.
Director Shawn Levy also tweeted, ‘Nick came in and straight up MURDERED for us on #DeadpoolAndWolverine. If you’ve seen the movie, YOU KNOW.’
Pauley revealed himself as ‘Dancepool’ on Deadpool & Wolverine’s opening day in theaters on Friday, showing a snap of him in the Deadpool outfit without the mask, plus a snap of him at the premiere.
‘It’s true! I am Dancepool in the new Deadpool and Wolverine. This secret has been so hard to keep! I can’t believe I have the honor of being “dance” double for the opening scene of the entire movie!!! Like what?!? What is life?’ he began.
‘I went to the premiere on Monday and watching the footage back was pretty surreal. I hadn’t remembered what I freestyled in between the choreography, and it was hilarious to watch it back and be like “oh my god now I remember doing that,’ he added.

‘Please go see the movie! It is one of the most well rounded films I’ve ever seen. Incredible job to everyone involved…. You should be very very proud of yourselves. And shout out to my agents at @blocla for submitting me for this role! Who would’ve thought!!’ he concluded.
Deadpool & Wolverine’s $24.4 million Tuesday gross was practically even with Monday’s $24.4 million tally, and more than enough to break the R-rated Tuesday record of $13.9 million set by Joker in 2019.
It will square off against the Warner Bros. thriller Trap starring Josh Hartnett and Columbia Pictures’ family fantasy Harold and the Purple Crayon with Zachary Levi.
