Liam Hemsworth reportedly jealous of Glen Powell’s success

Glen Powell’s career has been going from strength to strength.

But the American actor’s success appears to have left Australian star Liam Hemsworth ‘envious’ according to a new report.

The men know each other from the audition circuit, New Idea magazine claimed this week, but while Liam’s career has stalled, Glen’s is skyrocketing.

‘He’d barely be recognised at a Hollywood party these days’ an alleged source told the publication.

‘Meanwhile, Glen has a mailbox full of scripts, profiles in Vanity Fair and is being lauded as the man single-handedly bringing back movie heart-throbs. Of course Liam’s put out.’

The source goes on to claim the actors became rivals when they faced off over a role in a leading action blockbuster.

Glen was cast in the third Expendables film in 2014, after Liam appeared in the second of the franchise in 2012 and did not return.

‘Essentially, Glen was cast in his spot. There’s no doubt Glen has picked up where Liam left off’ the source claims.

Daily Mail Australia has reached out to Liam Hemsworth for comment.

While Liam has not had a massive blockbuster role since 2014’s The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 he has worked steadily ever since.

He appeared in action films Poker Face and Land of bad in 2022 and 2024, and has taken over the starring role in Netflix series The Witcher following Henry Cavill’s exit in 2022.

Glen meanwhile has recently had hits with Top Gun: Maverick, comedy Anyone but You and seen his latest film Twisters become a box office smash.

Twisters created a storm of business at the box office over the weekend, churning up an estimated USD $80.5 million for it debut.

It has far exceeded expectations and garnered the highest box office opening for a live action film this summer so far.

The film is a long-awaited follow-up to the 1996 film Twister and also stars Daisy Edgar-Jones, Anthony Ramos, Brandon Perea, Maura Tierney, Sasha Lane, Kiernan Shipka and Paul Scheer.

In the film Daisy stars as a Kate Cooper, a young woman traumatized by a tornado who is lured back when her friend Javi (Ramos) shows her a new system to map the paths of storms.

But the two clash with Tyler Owens (Powell) a flashy storm chaser who risks his life to get close to tornadoes for lucrative social media content.

Twisters is a stand-alone sequel to the 1996 film Twister that starred Helen Hunt, Bill Paxton, Jami Gertz and Cary Elwes.
