Wendy Osefo and Husband Allegedly Have Many Credit Cards Amid Fraud Arrest

The Real Housewives of Potomac’s Wendy Osefo and her husband, Eddie were in possession of ‘approximately 40 credit and or debit cards’ at the time of their arrest last month in connection with 16 charges of fraud, officials said.

Prosecutors in the case said in legal docs that the Bravo star and her spouse, both 41, kept the cards under their names, as well as names of companies, and aliases they went under, according to a report from the Baltimore Banner on Thursday.

Prosecutors said the Bravo stars used the phony names ‘Pam Oliver’ and ‘Eddie Hennessy’ on credit cards they recovered in their investigation, adding they believe the cards were evidential of the Osefos ‘deliberate attempt to mask their identity.’

Wendy appeared in Las Vegas at BravoCon last weekend, telling fans during a panel of her case: ‘It’s an unfortunate situation, and right now I can’t say too much, but I will say when the time is right I will share my story with everyone. 

‘And for now they’re just allegations, so we will continue to push forward.’ 

Daily Mail has reached out to reps for Wendy for further comment on the story. 

Prosecutors wrote in court docs, according to the outlet: ‘The State expects such documentation to show a pattern of excessive spending, supporting motive in this case.

‘The State avers that insurance fraud is a financial crime, and in that, the amount of debt owed by the Osefos, jointly, individually and by the businesses that they own, is highly relevant to their motive.’

Attorneys for the Osefos described the efforts of the prosecutors working on the high-profile case as a ‘fishing expedition,’ according to the outlet.

Eddie’s lawyer Joseph Murtha said that the prosecution is ‘looking for something they haven’t figured out after 18 months of investigating.’

In a joint statement from their legal teams, the Osefos said law enforcement – ‘displaying clear bias against the Osefo family’- breached numerous protocols in failing ‘to properly investigate’ a burglary the Osefos say paved the way to their arrest.

Said the attorneys: ‘The Osefos heard nothing but silence from police for over 18 months despite complete cooperation and requests for updates.

‘It is common knowledge that other Real Housewives cast members have also been victimized after documenting their travel on social media, yet none faced this level of scrutiny or criminal charges.’

Lawyers for the Osefos said they felt it was ‘deeply unjust for the Sherrif’s Office and Office of the State’s Attorney for Carroll County to publicly expose confidential financial information about Eddie and Wendy Osefo.’

They added, ‘What is most disturbing is that the State appears to have begun investigating only after charging the Osefos, which is highlight irregular approach that raises serious concerns about motive and fairness.

‘The public release of the family’s private financial details serves no lawful purpose and only invites conclusory opinions about a case the State is obviously still investigating.’

Lawyers for the Osefos stressed that the couple have ‘never used an alias on any financial application, this allegation is false and misleading.

‘Such names were used for the delivery of packages, following their lawful purchase, to safeguard the identity of very public figures.’

The legal team for the Bravo stars said it was ‘ironic for the State to assert or exaggerate the existence of any purported debt in connection with this accomplished professional couple.

‘Due process is paramount to the administration of justice, and its breach by misleading the public with a false narrative has only compounded the harm.’

They added that ‘the defense is confident the Court will prevent any further violation of the Osefos’ right to a fair trial.’ 

Wendy last month made her gratitude for her fans clear in an Instagram post she put up, along with a pair of glam shots. 

‘And through it all, GOD remains faithful,’ Osefo said. ‘Thank you for the outpouring of love, support, and prayers for myself and most importantly my family during this time.

Wendy said she and her family were ‘forever grateful’ for the support during the trying time. 

In accompanying images, the reality star donned a black dress that accentuated her curves with a white collar and plunging neckline, accessorizing with a matching hat with a black bow.

Eddie Osefo also made reference to his faith in a social media post on last month following the legal entanglement.

Eddie posted an image of the couple posing with their three children – Karter, 12, Kruz, 10, and Kamrynn, six- in front of the Empire State Building on Instagram Sunday. 

It read: ‘Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6.’

Following their October 9 arrests, Wendy and Eddie were booked into Carroll County Detention Center and posted $100,000 bail collectively and were released, officials told US Weekly. 

Both are facing 16 charges, seven of them felonies, in connection with fraud that eclipse is $300 in value, the Westminster Police Department in Westminster, Maryland told People.

According to authorities, the duo said that they were missing a number of expensive items – including designer, handbags, and jewelry – when they visited Jamaica in April 2024. The couple said that the items had been taken during a burglary they had reported.

Investigators said they subsequently sussed out that items the pair claimed were stolen had been bought and taken back to the stores they were bought from – ‘where a full refund was provided prior to the alleged burglary.’

In court documents obtained by TMZ detailing what prosecutors recommended for bail, officials said the Osefos had claimed $450,000 in personal property losses through an insurance company. 

A spokesperson for the pair previously told US Weekly, ‘Dr. Wendy Osefo and her husband, Edward Osefo, are back home safely with their family and in good spirits. They are grateful for the outpouring of concern and support from friends, fans, and colleagues.

‘The Osefos, alongside their legal team, look forward to their day in court. At this time, they respectfully ask for privacy as they focus on their family and the legal process ahead.’

Bravo’s Andy Cohen said he was ‘hoping that this is all some big nothing’ in acknowledging the arrests on SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live October 13.

‘I want to say that like all of you, I found out about the charges against Wendy and Eddie Osefo on Friday morning, and there’s not much that I can say,’ Cohen said. ‘I know nothing of the charges more than you guys do, than what I’ve read. I’m sad about this. I’m really sad about this.’

Cohen praised Wendy as ‘a great housewife and a great role model’ who has ‘always led with education and her solid family values … I’m really thinking about her and her family.’  

Wendy and Eddie Osefo, who have been wed 14 years, are not the first reality stars to be accused of financial impropriety. In some cases, prominent names in the genre have had significant legal difficulties that led to convictions.

Among them include Real Housewives of New Jersey Teresa Giudice and her ex-husband Joe; Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Jen Shah; Jersey Shore star Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino; and Chrisley Knows Best stars Todd and Julie Chrisley.

Wendy first became a cast member on The Real Housewives of Potomac in the show’s fifth season in 2020.
