Today Show Star Returns Home After Oxford Graduation

Brooke Boney made a welcome return to the Today show on Friday after graduating from the Oxford University.

The former Channel Nine reporter, 38, left the popular breakfast show in September last year to continue her studies at the prestigious UK school.

Brooke was welcomed back into the fold by hosts Karl Stefanovic and Sarah Abo, who were quick to congratulate her on graduating with a Masters in Public Policy.

After a gushing tribute, Brooke was welcomed with heartfelt hugs from Karl and Sarah as she sat down to reflect on her time abroad.

‘It’s nice to be home! I just had the best time, it was so different from what I expected, but amazing in all the best ways,’ Brooke said.

Brooke added she was surprised by the subjects at which she proved adept, surpassing her own expectations.

‘I was good at the things I was not expecting,’ Brooke shared.

‘My strongest subjects were economics and law and, actually, I got a distinction for my research, which is the highest possible mark,’ she added, proudly.

Despite her stellar result, Brooke confessed to having doubts prior to making the big leap from Australia to the UK.

‘You do have those doubts when you go in to do something new, you’ve never sort of experienced it before,’ she said.

‘I hadn’t studied for, like, 20 years… and all of those comments about: “Oh did you get in on merit?” or: “Surely there’s some sort of secret pathway for Today show hosts to go to Oxford.”‘

With her studies completed, Karl then asked Brooke if she would be open to returning to Channel Nine, and she didn’t have to think to long for a reply.

‘Are you kidding?’ she laughed.

‘Look how healthy I am. I don’t have to wake up at a quarter-past three.’

Brooke revealed in September last year she was moving to England to continue her studies.

Alongside a snap of her beaming while sitting in the backseat of a car going to her first day at university, Brooke gushed: ‘Well, that’s been a fun month off.

‘Time to start studying now. Checking into college today to start uni on Monday.’

She also shared a sweet selfie rocking her best angles in an elevator as she wheeled her luggage into the esteemed St Antony’s College.

Brooke could not contain her excitement at her enormous life change, writing ‘eeeek’ alongside the photo.
