Kim Kardashian: Doctors Warn Brain Aneurysm Could ‘Rupture’ Anytime Due to Stress

Kim Kardashian revealed doctors were terrified that a brain aneurysm discovered during a recent scan could ‘rupture’ — and warned her that her nonstop lifestyle might be pushing her body to the edge.

The 45-year-old mogul, actress, law student and single mother of four first shared the health scare during last month’s Season 7 premiere of The Kardashians.

While speaking to sister Kourtney, 46, Kim announced that doctors had found a ‘little’ aneurysm on her brain scan — news that left fans stunned.

She said medical experts believed the bulge had been brought on by ‘stress.’

After her MRI, cameras showed Kim in tears as she spoke on the phone and asked: ‘Why the f**k is this happening?’

On Thursday’s episode, Kim revealed the situation was worse than she first understood.

She told Kourtney she had spoken with a brain surgeon, only to learn that the aneurysm could rupture under severe stress — something she faced constantly.

An aneurysm is a balloon-like bulge in a blood vessel that can explode without warning.

‘He was like, “I want you to come in for all this imaging,”’ Kim said. ‘I asked, “Can I wait? What makes it rupture?” They’re like, “Just stress.”’

The answer rattled her.

Kim was already overwhelmed with responsibilities — studying for the bar, filming All’s Fair, managing several businesses and caring for her four kids.

‘I’m like, “OK, I’m taking the bar exam. I’m studying 10 hours a day,”’ she said.

She added that her stress level had become ‘next level to the point of hives now.’

‘I have four kids that depend on me. I have to be sane,’ she said. ‘It’s stressful out there, but this aneurysm can’t be stressed.’

Kim said doctors told her the aneurysm had likely been there for ‘years,’ which only heightened her anxiety.

Most aneurysms never rupture, and many cause no symptoms.

But the Mayo Clinic states that high blood pressure is the leading cause of rupture. If one bursts, immediate surgery is required to seal the vessel and stop the bleeding.

Kourtney made it clear she feared Kim was pushing herself too far.

‘I’m definitely worried about Kim,’ she said in her confessional. ‘She has so much going on between work and her four kids that I don’t want her to have an aneurysm.’

Kourtney also questioned why Kim was adding a full legal career to her already packed life.

‘I’m not shaming or judging,’ she told her sister. ‘But isn’t there a time to do it later once your kids are more grown and they don’t need you as much?’

Kim later gave a public update on her health during Good Morning America.

‘He was like, “I want you to come in for all this imaging,”’ Kim said. ‘I asked, “Can I wait? What makes it rupture?” They’re like, “Just stress"'

She revealed she had gone through multiple rounds of advanced scanning after the aneurysm was first detected.

‘I did go and get a Prenuvo scan. And I had to end up going and getting tons of other brain scans at Cedars[-Sinai] with all the team,’ she told host Robin Roberts.

She encouraged fans to watch the upcoming episodes but promised: ‘Everything works out.’

‘It’s just a good measure to go,’ she added. ‘Make sure that you always check everything. Health is wealth, and you just have to be careful with everything that you do.’

Kim has been open about her medical struggles for years.

She has long dealt with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis, conditions that flare under stress.

In 2022, she said the 16-pound weight loss she underwent to fit into Marilyn Monroe’s iconic gown for the Met Gala triggered a severe psoriasis flare that developed into psoriatic arthritis.

Her pregnancies were also risky.

In 2015, she revealed she had suffered from placenta accreta, a dangerous condition in which the placenta attaches too deeply to the uterine wall.

It can cause heavy bleeding and often requires emergency treatment after delivery.

Those experiences have made Kim’s recent diagnosis all the more sobering for fans, many of whom flooded social media with messages urging her to slow down.

But the star has continued her packed schedule — filming, studying and raising four children: North, 12, Saint, 9, Chicago, 7, and Psalm, 6, whom she shares with ex-husband Kanye West.

While Kim insisted she has everything under control, even her own family worried that her ambitions might be pushing her health into dangerous territory.

And with doctors warning that ‘just stress’ could cause her aneurysm to rupture, the stakes have never been higher.

Meanwhile, Kim spoke about the ‘final straw’ in her split from West while on Call Her Daddy.

‘I didn’t like the feeling of someone talking bad about my kids, grandmother, aunts,’ she said. ‘If someone feels that way, then we shouldn’t be together.’

Kim didn’t feel ‘safe emotionally and financially’ with West, which left her with a ‘really unsettling feeling.’

WHAT IS A BRAIN ANEURYSM?

A brain aneurysm is a bulge or ballooning in a blood vessel in the brain, according to the Mayo Clinic.

It’s also known as a cerebral aneurysm or intracranial aneurysm. One type of aneurysm called a berry or saccular aneurysm looks like a berry hanging on a stem.

Experts think brain aneurysms form and grow because blood flowing through the blood vessel puts pressure on a weak area of the vessel wall. This can increase the size of the brain aneurysm. If the brain aneurysm leaks or ruptures, it causes bleeding in the brain, known as a hemorrhagic stroke.

Most often, a ruptured brain aneurysm happens in the space between the brain and the thin tissues covering the brain. This type of hemorrhagic stroke is called a subarachnoid hemorrhage.

Brain aneurysms are common. But most brain aneurysms aren’t serious, especially if they’re small. Most brain aneurysms don’t rupture. They usually don’t cause symptoms or cause health problems. In many people, brain aneurysms are found during tests for other conditions.

However, if an aneurysm ruptures it can quickly become life-threatening and requires emergency treatment.

If a brain aneurysm hasn’t ruptured, treatment may be right for some people. There are many factors to be considered. If it is felt that the treatment risk is lower than the future risk of aneurysm rupture, then treatment of an unruptured brain aneurysm may be recommended. Talk about your treatment options with your healthcare professional.
