Jack Black Spotted After Drama with George Clooney

Jack Black was spotted for the first time during a solo outing in Los Angeles last week after claims George Clooney forced him to break up his rock duo Tenacious D.

The 55-year-old School Of Rock star — who recently took part in Ozzy Osbourne’s final concert before his passing — kept it casual as he stepped out for a stroll in the summer heat.

He sported a short-sleeved black printed shirt, as well as a pair of colorful shorts and black shoes.

Black wore a backpack and listened to tunes with headphones for the daytime excursion.

One year earlier, his band Tenacious D — which also includes Kyle Gass — was embroiled in controversy when Gass made a joke during a performance in Sydney, Australia, following an assassination attempt on Donald Trump.

At the time, a cake was brought on stage for Gass’ birthday, and when told to make a wish, he said, ‘Don’t miss Trump next time.’ Following backlash, the duo canceled the remainder of their tour and have since gone on a hiatus.

Journalist Andrew Callaghan recently alleged that Clooney forced Black to disband Tenacious D.

The media personality made the claims during his three hour interview with Hunter Biden which was published to his Channel 5 YouTube page last week.

Hunter notably unleashed his fury on the Hollywood actor with Andrew also bringing up a story about the star a little over halfway into the lengthy interview.

‘My only really famous Hollywood friend is actor Jack Black, you know, from School Of Rock,’ the journalist told Hunter, before adding that they had once been neighbors.

‘And so Tenacious D did a concert in Sydney, Australia and this is the day after they tried to assassinate Trump in Butler, PA. And I guess Jack Black’s guitarist or whatever jumps up on stage,’ he added, referencing Gass.

‘And he yells something into the effect of “Hey, next time you try to shoot Trump, aim a little bit closer.” George Clooney is blowing his phone up being like, “If you don’t kick your band member out of the band and like publicly denounce this guy…”‘

Andrew then claimed, ‘Like, I don’t know what the consequences were, but it was kind of like, “You’re out!” Out of what, we don’t know.

‘And so his hand was basically forced to be like, “Oh, sorry, my bandmember has serious mental-health problems. We’re breaking up the band for now. The tour is canceled.”‘

Clooney had written in op-ed for the New York Times last year in July where he pushed for Joe to drop out of the 2024 U.S. presidential election.

Both Black and Clooney have worked in the entertainment industry for years, and notably starred together in a Nespresso ad back in 2015.

Tenacious D was founded by Black and Gass in 1994 and had been in the midst of a tour last July when Gass made the controversial comment live on stage at a concert in Sydney.

In celebration of his 64th birthday — which was one day after the assassination attempt on Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania — a cake was brought out and Gass made a wish: ‘Don’t miss Trump next time.’

The rock duo soon garnered backlash over the comment and the pair issued apologies and canceled the remainder of their tour.

In a statement, Gass said: ‘The line I improvised onstage Sunday night in Sydney was highly inappropriate, dangerous and a terrible mistake. I don’t condone violence of any kind, in any form, against anyone.

‘What happened was a tragedy, and I’m incredibly sorry for my severe lack of judgment. I profoundly apologize to those I’ve let down and truly regret any pain I’ve caused.’

Black also issued a statement of his own to DailyMail.com where he revealed that he had been ‘blindsided’ by Gass’ comments during the concert.

‘I was blindsided by what was said at the show on Sunday. I would never condone hate speech or encourage political violence in any form.’

The actor continued, ‘After much reflection, I no longer feel it is appropriate to continue the Tenacious D tour, and all future creative plans are on hold. I am grateful to the fans for their support and understanding.’

A source later told DailyMail.com, ‘Jack Black is still best friends with Kyle Gass. He wasn’t expecting the jab that Kyle made about Trump and with his standing in Hollywood, he had to lock this controversy down instantly.

‘Though Jack was surprised by it and even surprised by the reaction, he made sure to get ahead of it.’

The insider added, ‘Jack isn’t looking to be canceled and by ending the tour and stepping away from it all and Kyle’s joke, he is hoping that people will quickly forget it.

‘There are so many huge movies Jack is attached to right now and to derail that would be career suicide. We will see Tenacious D again, but it could be years from now.’

The source stated that Gass ‘genuinely feels bad about the fallout’ and ‘thought it was a throwaway line during a show, but it has taken a life of its own and he is accepting his current fate.

‘He just hopes that people will forgive him and that it won’t impact his friendship with Jack.’

Gass was notably dropped from his talent agency Greene Talent after he made the comment.

A month after the incident, Black revealed the future of Tenacious D while talking to Entertainment Tonight.

‘I love Tenacious D… We had to take a break, but I love the D. Everybody takes a break sometimes. We’ll be back.’

Since the incident, Tenacious D has occasionally shared posts to the band’s main Instagram page.
