Jasmine Harman has paid a heartbreaking tribute to her late A Place In The Sun co-star Jonnie Irwin on what would have been his 52nd birthday.

The pair, who worked on the beloved Channel 4 property show together since its launch in 2004, were also close friends off screen.

Jonnie died in February 2024 after a battle with lung cancer.

She penned: ‘Happy heavenly birthday dearest Jonnie.

‘We miss you so much, but especially this weekend when I was celebrating my 50th. You were there at my 30th birthday, and my 40th – always the life and soul of the party.

‘I never thought the day would come when I would catch up with you in age. The last time we saw each other was your 50th birthday!’

Jasmine added: ‘This pic was taken 20 years ago! I will always treasure the memories of the fun times we had.

‘Sending so much love to your lovely family.’

Her post comes after she revealed her husband was rushed to hospital suffering a heart attack while falling ill during filming for their property show in Spain.

Jonnie was forced to step away from presenting A Place In The Sun in 2021 following his diagnosis.

He left behind his bereft wife Jessica Holmes and their young sons Rex, five, and three-year-old twins Rafa and Cormac following his death.

Last year Jessica tearfully shared her last moments with Jonnie as she reflected on their loving marriage.

Speaking to HELLO magazine, she emotionally said: ‘He told me, “I’m so happy I met you,” and that he knew the boys would have the most joy and fun a person could bring.

‘We had so much fun, Jonnie and me, we were never boring, we weren’t best friends, we were lovers; there was passion.’

Jessica cared for Jonnie at their home in the last few days of his life and was supported by nurses.

She said his death was ‘cruel by how quick it was’ as he returned home from hospital and didn’t leave his bed before passing away days later.

Jess admitted she was in denial that this was the end because she was expecting him to have an ‘neurological decline’ because days earlier he was ‘playfully giving her grief’ about something.

She revealed their oldest son Rex went to Jonnie’s room to see him before he passed and Jess explained how she believes their little boy ‘knew something wasn’t right because he kissed Jonnie’s hand’.

Documents released following his death showed how the TV star left nearly £1 million in his will for Jessica and their three sons.

His entire £953,000 estate was left for Jessica.

When Jonnie was fit and healthy he enjoyed several walking holidays with his group of ‘brothers’ and Jess revealed she gave friends some of his ashes to ‘sprinkle on top of a mountain’ in the Lake District.

She said: ‘On their last trip they rented e-bikes to make it easier for Jonnie and went to the Lake District. Two weeks ago, the others went back and I said to them, “Do you want to take a bit of him with you?” so they sprinkled some of his ashes on the top of a mountain’.
