Cody Johnson has joyously revealed that his wife Brandi gave birth to their third child and first son nearly a month ago, on October 21.
The 38-year-old country star married Brandi in 2008 and previously welcomed two daughters with her called Clara Mae, 10, and Cori, eight.
He shared in May that he and his wife were ‘having a little boy! We decided to make this our announcement to the world and our gender reveal as well,’ via People.
Now he has ecstatically informed fans that his latest little bundle of joy has arrived, and has been given the name Jaycee Daniel.
‘He and Mom are here at the house. They’re happy and healthy, and it’s been a wonderful experience,’ he said on Country Countdown USA with Lon Helton.
Johnson shed light on his decision to keep the news private for three weeks, explaining: ‘I’m a pretty private person. Brandi is too.’

He added: ‘Some artists post all the time. Not me. When I’m on stage with the guitar, I interact with the world. But when I take my hat off, I’m very private.’
The ‘Til You Can’t hitmaker also clarified why he chose to break the news during his appearance on Lon Helton’s radio program.
‘My publicist asked how and when we were gonna announce it. I said people will find out. There was no way if I did a call with Lon and he asked about it that I’m not gonna talk about it,’ said Johnson. ‘With CMAs coming up, someone’s gonna ask, so it’s gonna get out. He was born on October 21st.’
The Texas native, who hails from the Huntsville area, touchingly looked back on the details of the night his youngest child entered the world.
‘It was 1am, couldn’t sleep, and about 2:30, Brandi said her water broke,’ he recalled. ‘I figured out her diesel truck tops out at about 125 miles an hour.’
Johnson announced his wife’s third pregnancy and the sex of their next baby while attending the 2025 Academy of Country Music Awards in May.
‘My girls…you can’t beat my girls, I love my two girls with all my heart,’ he heartwarmingly added at the time. ‘They’re 10 and eight, Clara and Cori, and I think I’m excited to watch them help raise this little boy.’
He noted that by this year he was ‘a lot better off now as far as career and financially’ than when his daughters were born. ‘He’s gonna get a horse a little quicker than my kids did. He’s going to get to do some things a little quicker than my daughters did.’

Johnson laughingly confessed that he was happy to finally be welcoming a son into the family, though he clarified: ‘I didn’t care if this one was a boy or a girl, but I was pretty happy when I saw the gender reveal.’Â
Jaycee was born just two weeks after Johnson had to cancel the rest of his 2025 tour dates on account of a burst eardrum that required an operation.
‘While battling a severe upper respiratory and sinus infection, I burst my eardrum. The severity of the rupture means I must undergo immediate surgery,’ he said.
In his new interview announcing his son’s arrival, Johnson said he was ‘getting better,’ noting: ‘The eardrum itself has healed. I’m getting better. I’ve been singing. My voice sounds better than ever since I haven’t been singing.’
He added: ‘The goal is to come back in February. Probably going into the studio to do vocals in January to get a record out next year. We’re pretty much done. Just need some guest performances by Luke Combs and Brothers Osborne. Then we’re done.’
However he will not be performing at Wednesday night’s Country Music Association Awards, where he is nominated for five trophies including Entertainer of the Year.
‘I had an opportunity, and maybe I could, but we didn’t want to risk my recovery process. I also didn’t think it would be fair for the fans who had their shows cancelled. I’ll be attending, but just gonna sit back and watch,’ he said.
He has already been unveiled as one of the presenters of the show and said he believed he would be introducing a performance by Lainey Wilson. ‘So I’ll be involved, but not in the capacity I wanted,’ noted Johnson.
