Tina O’Brien: “My Heart Is Heavy” After Father’s Passing

Tina O’Brien has revealed her father has passed away, thanking her loved ones for support during ‘this difficult time.’

The Coronation Street star, 42, shared a post on Instagram, explaining why she had not posted on social media in awhile.

‘I’ve been a little quiet on here. My dad recently died. I haven’t quite known how to put it into words,’ she told fans in the post which was accompanied by the poignant Cat Stevens song Father And Son. 

‘My heart is very heavy but I’m grateful he is no longer suffering. Thank you to everyone who’s held me steady through this difficult time. I love you. You mean the world to me. xx’

 The actress is best known for her portrayal of Sarah Platt in the long-running ITV soap opera Coronation Street. 

Tina’s loss comes weeks after she went public with her new boyfriend after splitting from her husband Adam Crofts.

The actress, 41, was said to have ‘found love again’ back in July and in September confirmed the news by sharing a series of love-up snaps. 

The man in question, who bears a striking resemblance to her ex husband, is an interior designer named Adam Fadlé, 38. 

It was revealed in June that the Corrie star had split from her husband after weeks of speculation.

The estranged couple, who share ten-year-old son Beau, are said to be ‘on good terms’ for the sake of their son but their differing lifestyles reportedly drove them apart.

Tina met Crofts in a Manchester coffee shop in 2011 and the couple tied the knot in a surprise NYE ceremony in 2018. 

The star – who plays Sarah Platt in the ITV show – first sparked split rumours when she shared a photograph of herself at co-star Colson Smith’s leaving party in Manchester.

She further fuelled the speculation as she was seen with a notably bare ring finger while out for a cup of tea in Cheshire.

Friends then revealed the split as they said: ‘Tina and Adam have ended their relationship and are spending some time apart. 

‘They moved house at Christmas and have decided to live separately for the time being.

The insider told The Sun: ‘Adam and Tina lead very different lives – he is really into his fitness, while she really enjoys going out with her mates and having a dance, which just isn’t for him.

‘It wasn’t an issue at first because they were head over heels, but as the kids have started to grow up it’s become more noticeable. Adam likes a quiet life and unfortunately that just isn’t Tina.’

Tina is also mum to daughter Scarlett, 16, who she shares with her ex Ryan Thomas.
