EDEN CONFIDENTIAL: Comedy Star’s Ex Faces Tragic Loss

Jeremy Rainbird’s whirlwind romance with actress Sharon Horgan inspired her hit Channel 4 comedy Catastrophe, about the chaos of modern relationships.

Today, the businessman is, however, reeling from a real-life tragedy.

I can disclose that his new girlfriend has died at the age of 42.

Caroline Towning, a celebrated equine artist and former managing director of Blacks private members’ club in London’s Soho, died in hospital in Mexico, where she was living with Jeremy, 52, who has two teenage daughters with Sharon.

Yesterday, he posted a tribute to Yorkshire-born Caroline on social media, referring to her as ‘Pony’, the nickname she acquired because if her love of horses.

‘Beautiful Pony, the brightest shining light,’ he wrote. ‘Forever in my heart.’

Last Friday, I reported that the pair had found love together. Friends claimed yesterday that their relationship was, however, tumultuous. The couple had been sharing affectionate photos on social media from recent holidays in LA, Nevada and Mykonos.

They are co-directors of fashion label Maison Rockman which specialises in black faux-leather designs and is due to launch next spring.

Caroline, an amateur showjumper in her teenage years, had voiced her personal struggles online in recent months, writing of inner ‘darkness’ and saying she ‘would rather sit in pain and create [art] than choose happiness’.

Jeremy, who’s known as Jez, made a fortune through TV shows created by Sharon, 55, including Catastrophe, the Bafta-winning sitcom. Jeremy was chairman of the Merman Group of companies which produced programmes including the BBC hit Motherland, which Sharon also wrote.

Jeremy separated from Sharon in 2019 and she’s currently going out with her Bad Sisters co-star Barry Ward. Earlier this year, she said she regretted not ending her 14-year marriage sooner. ‘There came a point where it was so clear it wasn’t right for either of us,’ she reflected. ‘It’s so destructive. You get one life and that’s an awful lot of time to spend on something that’s not working.’

Schiffer girl’s swell time with party posse

Yee haw! Claudia Schiffer’s daughter Clementine enjoyed a cowboy-themed party at the weekend and showed she’s inherited the German supermodel’s looks.

Clementine, 21, who grew up in London and a Tudor mansion in Suffolk, wore a Wild West-style corset and leather belt while her friend sported a cowboy hat.

The daughter of film-maker Sir Matthew Vaughn has been living in New York, pursuing creative interests.

‘I’ve seen the end [result] of success,’ she has said of her move to America. ‘I want to see the start of it, the hustle and bustle.’

Days before the 45th anniversary of John Lennon’s murder in New York at the age of 40, younger son Sean Lennon admits he struggles to come to terms with now being ten years older than the Beatle at the time of his death.

‘It is a little bit weird,’ says Sean, who turned 50 last month. ‘It’s existentially challenging because I look at him, you know, in his late 30s, and I see him as older than me. I can’t help it. I don’t know if that’ll ever change.’

The son of John’s second wife Yoko Ono, Sean adds: ‘Maybe it’s my Japanese genes or whatever, but I do feel like I still look possibly younger than he did. I don’t know if we lived different lives or if people are just eating healthier in my generation.’

The Earl of Carnarvon’s brother Harry Herbert married TV chef Clodagh McKenna in 2021. Now, the friend of the royals wants to share her Irish nationality. ‘I’m trying to get my husband one [an Irish passport],’ says Clodagh, 50, who’s a food columnist for The Mail on Sunday’s You magazine. Speaking on Mark Wogan’s Spooning podcast, Clodagh laments: ‘It doesn’t look like it’s gonna happen.’

Bruno Tonioli, who waltzed away from Strictly Come Dancing, still knows how to pick a winner. The Britain’s Got Talent judge, who turns 70 next week, increased shareholder funds to £4.36 million in Fulvia Ltd, the production company into which he channels his earnings.

According to newly filed accounts, Fulvia made a profit of £461,000 in the year to February. The company’s assets include £3.9 million in cash.

Lloyd Webber keeps his kids’ feet on the ground

Andrew Lloyd Webber has an estimated fortune of £500million, but he refuses to spoil his children. Jesus Christ Superstar’s Ben Forster, recalls dinner with the peer. ‘One of his kids had his phone under the table,’ Forster says. ‘I thought [he was checking the] football, and he said, ‘No, I’ve just sold a pair of trainers on eBay because I’m saving up for my first car.’ ‘I was, like, ‘Andrew Lloyd Webber is your dad and you’re saving for your first car!”

Kane shares take a clattering

Harry Kane put the ball in the back of the net twice for England against Albania on Sunday, but he’s scored an own goal off the pitch.

I hear that Urban Legend, the healthy snack firm the Bayern Munich striker, 32, invested in, has gone bust with debts of £19 million.

Of that, £13.3 million is owed to investors. Kane reportedly bought £40,000 worth of shares three years ago.

He spoke enthusiastically about the venture at the time, saying: ‘Investing in the company connects with my keen interest to encourage others to look after their health and for retailers to have healthier options more widely available.’
