Isla Fisher has admitted she has had ‘a really challenging’ time after her split from husband Sacha Baron Cohen.
The Australian actress, 49, stars in a sizzling shoot for NewBeauty and in the accompanying interview she reveals how she has spent the past year rebuilding her ‘sense of self’ post divorce.
Isla and Sacha mutually announced the end of their 14-year marriage at the end of 2023 with the divorce finalised this past June.
The actress, who shares three children with her ex, has revealed how she has spent the two years since the split focusing on work and herself. Sacha’s approach to single life though has so far been in stark contrast to Isla’s.
Only three months after the exes confirmed their divorce was complete, it was reported the Borat star, 54, had moved on with a younger model – Hannah Palmer, 27.
Then on Friday the actor was snapped with social media star Kelsey Calemine, 26, who is 28 years his junior.

Speaking to NewBeauty Isla acknowledged ‘it has been a really challenging time. I definitely feel like there’s something about the divorce club that anyone in it understands in a way other people don’t. It’s a different grief.’
Switching to a more uplifting outlook, Isla added: ‘I feel like creating a new identity after your divorce is so fun, though. You get to reflect on your values and goals, explore new interests, focus on what you want and rebuild your sense of self.’
She explained that she’s enjoying having the headspace and time to focus on herself.
”It’s a lot like that, reconnecting to maybe passions you had when you were a kid, but they fell by the wayside when you were raising a family.’
‘All the relationships that you have in your life that were not necessarily the forefront of the way that you spend your time, because you’re married. Those relationships that are so supportive and brilliant and often really, really old get to retake center stage. I think that’s a really exciting thing.’
‘There are lots of positives that have come about from all this—like self-exploration and just trying to be kind to myself. I can just give myself grace whenever I like. That’s all I’m trying to do.’Â
Isla also has work to focus on. She is currently promoting the anticipated return of the Now You See Me franchise, with the third movie hitting cinemas this week.Â
She has four films all due to be released either this year or next, marking her busiest working period since 2016 when she appeared in Keeping Up with the Joneses, Noctural Animals and Grimsby with then-husband Sacha.

‘I actually thought this morning that I was feeling just really overwhelmed,’ Isla explained. ‘And then I had to remind myself to be super grateful for being at this position in my career and my life.’Â
Earlier this year, Isla admitted she is not looking to date again anytime soon in the wake of her divorce.
‘That’s not on my to-do list. I’m not ready to think about any of that,’ she told The Sunday Times, explaining her own parents separated when she was nine-years-old and admiting their peaceful arrangement was what she now strives for.Â
Sacha meanwhile has been linked to two younger models in recent months. He was snapped with Influencer Kelsey, who bears a striking resemblance to Kylie Jenner, in the early hours of Friday morning.
According to The Sun, Sacha spent two hours inside the club between 1am and 3am and got speaking to Kelsey after she emerged from the venue with her pal.Â
They were snapped chatting before Sacha was seen handing over his phone as she appeared to add her number into it. They then left in separate Ubers.Â
An onlooker told the publication: ‘Sacha arrived at 1am at a hot new exclusive nightclub that is just up and coming in Hollywood. He was on his own with no security.’

They added:Â ‘He was staring at Kelsey and then walked over and started chatting to her. Someone told me he had been flirting with her inside the club. Outside they were both very flirty and they didn’t stop laughing.
‘He then walked over to her Uber when it came and gave her his phone which had a pink case and she typed her number into it.’
A friend of Sacha shrugged off the snaps, telling the Daily Mail: ‘This is someone he bumped into as they both left the club.
‘They briefly conversed and soon after they went their separate ways and there has been no follow up.’Â
