Forgotten Celebrity Siblings: Surprising Lives of Stars Who Stayed Out of the Spotlight

For those born into Hollywood dynasties, it’s expected they will follow the lead of their family members and carve out a career in showbusiness.

Yet in an era where the term nepo baby has become somewhat of a slur, there are many could-be stars who have chosen to stay out of the spotlight.  

Earlier this week, Will Smith delighted fans when he posed for a rare snap with his eldest son – with many having forgotten the Oscar-winner has three children. 

Some will be familiar with his younger kids, Willow and Jaden, but the Men In Black star is also father to Trey Smith, whom he shares with ex-wife Sheree Zampino.

While Trey, 33, has the same creative abilities as his famous father, he has chosen not to pursue the fame that comes alongside the industry. 

And he is not the only ‘forgotten’ celebrity sibling in Hollywood, as Daily Mail reveals below. 

Chloe Delevingne  

As the elder sister of supermodel-turned-actress Cara, 33, and Poppy, 39, who is described by Vogue as ‘one of the most beautiful and sought-after faces in the fashion world’, Chloe Delevingne’s family name holds plenty of weight in showbiz circles. 

Yet while she too possesses the stunning Delevingne genes that could have made her a darling in the fashion world, Chloe, 40, has always maintained a lower profile.

By her own admission, she is the ‘shy’ one of the family and has never attempted to court the spotlight.

The socialite and philanthropist, who is co-founder of Della Vite and The Lady Garden Foundation, instead only turns to the media when promoting her charitable causes.

Chloe – who the Delevingnes say was the ‘rebellious’ sister in her teenage years – has since turned her back on partying and thrown herself into her studies. 

While her sisters were walking runways and appearing in magazines, Chloe was busy studying biomedical science and tumor biology at University College London. 

Her academic background led her to co-found the Lady Garden Foundation, a charity that raises awareness and funding for gynecological health.

Chloe has also been training to be a midwife in Aylesbury.

‘It’s hard but good and very rewarding. They really throw you in at the deep end pretty early on,’ she told Cotswold Life in 2023.

‘I’ve not done a delivery yet, but have been very involved doing observations on soon-to-be mums.

‘It’s intense but amazing – I think if you can help any woman when she is at her most vulnerable to have the birth she wants then there’s a lot gained.’

Frankie Jonas

It’s been 20 years since the Jonas Brothers burst onto the scene, with Kevin, 38, Joe, 36, and Nick, 33, going on to become household names after a string of hits and successful Disney movies.

Yet many would be surprised to know there’s actually a fourth Jonas brother, who fans affectionately refer to as the ‘Bonus Jonas’.

Frankie, 25, is the youngest son of Denise and Paul Kevin Jonas Sr’s four children, and was still in school when his siblings were touring the world. 

Yet he doesn’t mind that he missed out on fame, previously stating: ‘I didn’t really want to be in the band. That was never really my goal.

‘I just liked to be along for the ride, I got a really unique childhood. I got to see a lot of the world and I got to spend all my childhood with my family.

‘I support my brothers and I’m probably their biggest fan.’

Frankie has followed in his sibling’s footsteps by pursuing a music career, and while he is not as well known as his older brothers, he has a cult following on TikTok. 

Trey Smith

Will left fans reeling this week when pictures emerged of the Miami hitmaker partying with Trey at his birthday. 

Their relationship hasn’t always been smooth sailing, with Will previously admitting that they ‘struggled for years’ after he split from Sheree but positively added that they had ‘restored’ their bond.

He opened up about the family rift in 2018, when he shared an Instagram snap taken with Trey at F1 in Abu Dhabi.

Will wrote: ‘It has not always been like this between Trey & I. We STRUGGLED FOR YEARS after my Divorce from his Mother.

‘He felt betrayed & abandoned. It is a Wild Blessing to recover & restore a Loving Relationship with My Beautiful Son! @treysmithofficial.’

And in an accompanying video, Will explained to his followers, ‘So I’m in Abu Dhabi at the F1, I brought my son Trey.

‘We’ve been hanging and I usually take my kids separately on stuff so they have their individual daddy time.’

The star then recalled a message that Trey had given him and expressed, ‘So we’ve been doing this, hanging at the F1.

‘And he said, ‘You know what dad? I just realized you’re not just my dad – I’m pretty sure you’re my best friend,” Will said while becoming emotional. ‘I was like, yeah man, prolly, prolly.’

Trey has followed in Will’s footsteps and is making a name for himself in the music business, first as a DJ and now as a singer. 

His half-siblings are also in the entertainment business. Jaden has starred in several blockbuster films and released three albums, while Willow has had success in the music industry. 

Shanna and Carly Evans

Captain America actor Chris Evans is internationally famous for his Marvel movies, while his younger brother Scott is also known for starring in Grace and Frankie.

Yet the brothers also have two sisters that are not in the spotlight at all – Carly and Shanna Evans.

The sisters are involved in acting but not professionally, with Carly to thank for Chris and Scott entering the industry.

Carly took classes at the Concord Youth Theatre, with her siblings later joining alongside her.

The Evans matriarch Lisa previously revealed: ‘We’d come to see Carly’s shows and the boys would say, ‘Wait a minute, we sit in the audience, and she gets to sing, she gets to dance, she gets to do all this stuff, and then afterward she gets candy and flowers and we take her out to dinner. We want to do this!”

Carly now works as an English teacher but stays involved with the school’s drama department, helping with their productions.

Meanwhile Shanna is still at the Concord Youth Theater Group, working as a costume designer and teacher’s aide.

Chris praised his brothers and sisters in a tweet on National Siblings Day in 2019.

He penned: ‘Through siblings we practice trust, compassion, loyalty, creativity and love. I spent every waking second with mine creating the memories that I cherish above all others.

‘Happy #NationalSiblingsDay to my first best friends.’

Tom Franco

While many would be shocked to learn James and Dave Franco have another brother in the industry, it’s even more surprising to learn that they once all starred in a film together. 

Tom Franco, 45, is an actor like his famous brothers, and had a small role in 2017 film The Disaster Artist, in which his siblings starred as leads. 

The middle child started acting professionally in 1990 with his role as Frog Boy in the comedy horror film Basket Case 2, a year after eldest brother James made his TV breakthrough in Freaks and Geeks. 

Tom has gone one to star in other films such as 2005’s A Peace of History and 2021’s Miracle Valley.

He also worked alongside his siblings again in The Room, working as a crew member while Dave and James took on the lead roles. 

During an interview with Vanity Fair, younger brother Dave Franco said ‘for people who have met all three of us, Tom is the unanimous favorite Franco.’

He added: ‘He’s the best one—the best-looking, the sweetest, the nicest, greatest guy to be around. We keep him to ourselves.’

He added: ‘He’s our little secret.’

Tom is also a talented folk artist, and co-creator of the Firehouse Art Collective, an art studio space and open space for artist that is located in Berkeley, California. 

Aimee Osbourne 

When The Osbournes burst onto screens in 2002 they promised to give an unfiltered look into their home life.

However, there was one major part of their lives that was omitted from the show, eldest child, Aimee. 

Over the course of 52 episodes fans got to see the interactions between Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne and their younger children Jack and Kelly. 

However, aspiring musician Aimee feared that appearing on reality TV would damage her career prospects, and refused to take part in filming. 

She even went to the extreme lengths of moving out of the family home aged just 16 in order to avoid the cameras.

Reflecting on her decision to not appear on the show she said: ‘Back then, I still felt I was trying to figure out who I was in the chaos of family life, so why on earth would I want that portrayed on television?

‘I wanted to protect myself, my parents, my siblings, too. They were very young, very impressionable.’

Sharon said on the Talk in 2018: ‘She felt too that she didn’t want to grow up on camera. She hated the idea — it was appalling to her.

‘And so she left at 16 and I regret every day that she did. It broke my heart when she moved.’

This year, rarely-seen Aimee courageously put herself in the spotlight for her beloved father as she attended his public funeral procession.

The Black Sabbath rocker died aged 76 on July 22 and he was honoured with a funeral cortege that travelled through his hometown of Birmingham, passing thousands of fans who lined the streets.

Aimee has continued her father’s legacy by recording music of her own. She releases the music under the name ARO.

Trent Olsen

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were two of the most recognisable faces of the Nineties, but the Olsen twins also had two other siblings. 

While younger sister Elizabeth has now also made a name for herself in the acting world, their elder brother Trent has stayed out of the spotlight.  

Trent, 41, initially had dreams of becoming an actor and made cameos in several of his sisters’ films. 

However, after majoring in Jazz Studies at the University of Southern California, he opted for a quieter life.

In 2014, he was listed as a staff member at Storm King Productions, focusing on vampire films and TV. 

He has also authored several comic books, which he likes to collect. He’s now the editor-in-chief of Rogue Matter, a comics-focused digital platform. 

Bryan Spears

The Spears family have been thrust back into the spotlight of yet in the wake of Britney’s controversial conservatorship. 

Yet while the Grammy-winning artist has been embroiled in a very public feud with her parents Lynn and Jamie, and younger sister Jamie-Lynne, there’s one member of the family who’s managed to stay in the shadows. 

Britney’s elder brother Bryan, a television producer, was the Spears sibling that managed to stay out of the public eye during the #FreeBritney campaign.  

The elder Spears sibling was also previously involved in his sisters’ careers in the early 2000s, and even worked as a producer on Nickelodeon series Zoey 101 which starred younger sister Jamie Lynn. 

He previously spoke out in support of Britney’s controversial conservatorship, saying it was a ‘great thing’ for the Spears family.

A year before Britney formally asked to terminate her conservatorship – Bryan addressed the matter in an episode of the As Not Seen on TV podcast.

‘She’s been in this thing for quite some time now,’ he said.

‘Obviously there was a need for it at the beginning that I assume everyone knows the issues that were going on, and now they’ve made some changes and all we can kinda do is hope for the best.’

Despite Bryan’s support of the arrangement, Britney proved there were no hard feelings between the pair as she revealed last year Bryan had joined her on a Mexican getaway over Christmas. 

Sharing a video of him, Britney quipped: ‘It’s my sexy brother! I love my brother so much. He flew all the way over here. He’s so nice and handsome.’ 

Andrew Wilson

Many fans were shocked to learn that Hollywood icons Luke and Owen Wilson are siblings. 

But several will be unaware that there’s also a third Wilson in the mix – eldest brother Andrew, 61. 

Like his younger siblings, he has been working in the business since the Nineties, featuring in the likes of movies Bottle Rocket, Fever Pitch and Idiocracy.

He has worked alongside his brothers before, teaming up with Luke to direct the 2005 comedy The Wendell Baker Story, which starred Luke, 54, and Owen, 56.

Academy Award nominee winner Owen previously credited Andrew for helping his life become ‘manageable’ after he attempted suicide.

He revealed his elder sibling moved into his house and helped him learn how to plan his life after he battled depression in 2007.

Speaking to Esquire, Owen said he was ‘pretty grateful’ that Andrew stepped in to help because he has now learned that his life can be ‘good.’

Owen, who was rushed to hospital after he was found by his brother Luke following his suicide attempt, told the publication that Andrew ‘stayed in the house with him.’

He added that he after that he would ‘rise with him each morning and write up little schedules for each day so that life seemed at first manageable and then, at some point, a long time later, actually good.’

Burt, Brandon and Cassandra Jenner

While the Kardashian/Jenner clan are some of the most well known stars in Hollywood, not everyone in the family has soaked up the limelight. 

Burt, 47, and Brandon Jenner, 44, are Caitlyn Jenner’s sons from her marriages to Chrystie Scott and Linda Thompson respectively. 

Caitlyn also shares daughter Cassandra, 45, with Chrystie.

While the half-siblings of Kendall and Kylie Jenner have been pictured hanging out with their famous family members, they have never courted the limelight.

While Brandon is now very close to Caitlyn, he previously told Page Six that he ‘didn’t see’ his ‘father more than half a dozen times between the ages eight and 25.’

‘After Dad met and married Kris [in 1991], family became a business for [her], and I stayed away for most of my teenage years,’ he explained.

‘I didn’t want to be a part of their dynamic. I know now, though, that dad was pretty unhappy in that house and felt like [she] wasn’t treated well.

‘Sadly the infrequent exchanges felt more like staged photo opportunities than real bonding. In fact, they were stage photo ops for ‘family’ Christmas cards.’

Caitlyn is also father to Brody Jenner from his marriage to Linda, but Brody embraced the spotlight, having starred on Keeping Up with the Kardashians, The Princes of Malibu, and The Hills: New Beginnings.

Jack Depp

While many will be aware that Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis have a daughter called Lily-Rose, who has been dominating the modelling and acting world, the showbiz exes are also parents to son Jack. 

However, rather than following in the footsteps of his parents and sibling, Jack has been working as a bartender in Paris.

Daily Mail revealed last year that he has embraced working in a trendy Lebanese restaurant called L’Area in the Bastille quarter.

It was reported that Jack was, ‘working shifts behind the bar and also in the downstairs kitchen rustling up a mean mixed mezze.’

There have been pictures of him working at the restaurant posted on their social media pages, along with footage of Lily-Rose making drinks behind the bar.

Jack spent two years working in L’Area before leaving, but owner Edouard Chueke expects him to return.

Edouard told Daily Mail last year: ‘Jack is a great guy; he keeps out of the limelight, but worked here behind the bar and in the kitchen.

‘He was a good employee, he left a few months ago but I expect him back later next year. Good staff are hard to find.’
