Olivia Wilde reunites with Kaitlyn Dever at new Michael Kors store opening

Olivia Wilde had a sweet reunion with Kaitlyn Dever as the pair stepped out for the opening of a new Michael Kors store in Los Angeles.

Kaitlyn, 27, starred in Olivia’s directorial debut movie Booksmart in 2019, alongside Beanie Feldstein.

On Tuesday, the pair hugged as they reunited for a dinner at Canters by Spago to celebrate Michael Kors’s new shop on Rodeo Drive.

Olivia looked effortlessly chic for the event as she kept things casual, sporting a white vest and high-waisted black wide-leg trousers – which had a double-buckle leather belt.

The Don’t Worry Darling actress and director, 40, finished off her look with a collection of dainty silver pendant necklaces, diamond drop and hoop earrings and a pair of black patent shoes.

Meanwhile Kaitlyn opted for a simple blue maxi-dress for the event, which had thin straps and a crepe-like texture.

She went braless in the sleek gown, with her copper locks styled in beachy waves. She also wore diamond stud earrings and a collection of silver rings.

Kaitlyn starred in Olivia’s directorial debut Booksmart as studious Amy.

The film followed two nerdy high school students determined to break the rules and let loose before the end of senior year.

It was a hit with critics but under-performed at the box office, which some industry analysts blamed on a decision to open the comedy in wide release, rather than starting with a limited release and expanding gradually to build up word of mouth.

Upon its release, Kaitlyn gushed about having Olivia as a director.

‘I mean it really was like one of the most inclusive sets I’ve been on and that’s because of her and her spirit,’ she said.

‘She’s unlike anyone I’ve ever met. She really is like an alien. She’s an angel sent from above.’

Kaitlyn added: ‘She’s been able to pull bad experiences and good experiences and go, “OK, what is the movie that I want to make?”

‘And she led the charge and created this baby, Booksmart, into this movie that is now so well received and so loved by so many people. She’s a genius.’

During an interview on iHeartRadio in 2019 amid the film’s release, Olivia said: ‘There hasn’t been a movie about two female best friends since Bridesmaids that really, really felt authentic to me.

‘I was like, “I want to make something that feels funny and authentic and also to celebrate smart girls who aren’t trying to assimilate”, I knew it could be so funny and important.’

In January it was announced that Kaitlyn would join the cast of The Last of Us for season two as Abby, according to Variety.
