Neighbours star Nicola Charles has voiced her ambitions to start a career in politics.
The actress, 54, who starred as Sarah Beaumont on the Aussie soap opera, said she wants to run for a senate seat in next year’s federal election.
She said she hopes to run under the Great Australian Party banner and claimed she is being mentored by the party’s leader Rod Culleton.
Nicola plans to campaign on privacy issues and is strongly opposed to the Digital ID bill, which passed the Senate in March and the House of Representatives on May 16.
The bill and its legislation aim to pave the way for an economy-wide digital ID system in Australia, claiming to create a more secure and streamlined ecosystem.

Neighbours star Nicola Charles has voiced her ambitions to start a career in politics and said she wants to run for a senate seat in next year’s federal election.
Of her political plans, Nicola told the Herald Sun: ‘If I get into the senate I will do everything I can to have this bill repealed.’
‘I have no concerns for myself or my career anymore, I genuinely believe I owe Australia a debt of gratitude because I was not born in Australia, but I have been 100 per cent made in Australia.
‘For me to stand by and watch what is being done to this country and her people is heartbreaking and I am not prepared to let it happen, I will go down fighting.’
Nicola was born and raised in Worcestershire and moved to London at the age of 18, before relocating to Australia, where she has lived for more than 30 years.
Those who wish to run for the Senate must be Australian citizens, meaning Nicola’s British citizenship could be a hurdle for her political aspirations.

Nicola has courted controversy in recent years with a conspiracy video about The Voice referendum and her controversial views on Covid-19.
She carved herself out a career countering lockdowns and vaccines under the moniker ‘The White Rabbit’.
Last year, she targeted the referendum on the Voice to Parliament, bizarrely claiming a Yes victory would result in a United Nations ‘coup’ that would ‘appoint one man and one woman in every district’ to carry out its insidious wishes.
‘It completely changes the law on jurisdiction,’ she said in a rambling 17-minute video, according to the ABC. ‘This is an invasion by the one world government, the UN.’

At the time, an ABC analysis found versions of her video were shared on Facebook more than 25,000 times and attracted more than half a million views.
Anthony Albanese was forced to refute the bizarre conspiracy theory at an event in September last year.
‘What has occurred during this campaign is a lot of information being put out there, including by some who know that it is not true,’ he said.
‘There is worse information on some social media as well about the world conspiracies that the United Nations will control all land in Australia – all land – you will lose private ownership of everyone’s home will go with a Yes vote. It’s just absurd.’

Nicola sensationally claimed that she was not invited to appear in the Neighbours finale episode because of her stance on Covid-19
However, a week later, his speech was selectively edited to remove the context, leaving the words: ‘The United Nations will control all land in Australia – all land – you will lose private ownership of everyone’s home will go with a Yes vote.’
The maliciously-edited clip circulated widely online at the time.
Nicola also sensationally claimed that she was not invited to appear in the Neighbours finale episode because of her stance on Covid-19.
She told The Daily Telegraph back in July 2022 that she believed her vaccine status was behind the choice not to have her return.

Nicola rose to fame after debuting as Karl Kennedy’s mistress Sarah Beaumont on Neighbours in 1995 and went on to appear on the show on-and-off until 2016
‘I’ve been cancelled because I am unvaccinated,’ she told the publication, wildly claiming she was ‘universally cancelled for speaking her truth’ about Covid and vaccines.

She held a recurring role until 1999, and returned twice from 2012 to 2013, and then again in 2016.
A Neighbours finale episode aired in July 2022 and saw the likes of Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan return, but the soap opera was later revived by Amazon.
