Gaten Matarazzo has candidly talked about some of the uncomfortable encounters he has had with Stranger Things fans as a teenager.
The talented actor – now 21-years-old – opened up about some of the more awkward interactions he has had with followers of the Netflix series which has been filming season five since earlier this year.
He discussed a few of the encounters which were ‘a little uncomfortable’ on the Inside Of You podcast released on Tuesday.
Gaten discussed the one interaction which stuck out to him above all as he explained: ‘I did one very recently — and this is not very funny, but the reactions around it were quite funny — where this woman in her 40s said straight up, I’ve had a crush on you since you were 13.
‘And I was like, “That’s upsetting.” I’m sure she just meant, “Aw, this kid’s cute.”

Despite being completely floored by the comment, the Stranger Things star said that it got even weirder as the woman expanded on that thought more.
He explained: ‘She was like, ‘I’m aware of the age difference.’
Gaten said ‘alright’ and the woman’s 13-year-old daughter was with her and was flabbergasted by her remark as the actor said: ‘Mom, what the f***?’ I swear to God.’
That was not the only awkward interaction – which he called ‘insane’ – the young actor has had with fans.
He went on to reveal that he has taken multiple photos with fans and explained: ‘I’ve had a few butt grabs for sure.’
Gaten and the rest of the cast are currently in production of the fifth and final season of Stranger Things as he has been part of the main cast since the beginning in 2016.
He told podcast host Michael Rosenbaum: ‘With this show it is quite clear and I am very well aware — and would like my professional team — to understand that I am very OK with ‘Stranger Things’ being very likely the biggest thing I will ever do.
‘And it will most likely be the thing I am remembered for even if I consistently work after this.’

As many actors have previously voiced displeasure with being type casted due to having a signature role earlier in their career, Gaten does not hold those same reservations.
He explained: ‘And I am so cool with that as long as it facilitates happiness going forward, security and more work going forward.
‘What more could I ask for? I don’t want to maintain a sense of relevance at this point when it isn’t even something I particularly enjoy that much.’
While fans will need to wait for quite sometime for Stranger Thing to return for season five, Gaten does have one project on the horizon.
The talented star is set to star as the main character in the forthcoming four-part LEGO Star Wars miniseries titled Lego Star Wars: Rebuild The Galaxy.
